[voice;; monday afternoon]
Hi. [ he's not sure what to say, so he goes with regulation; he clears his throat, his tone going official. ]
My name is James T. Kirk, and I'm Captain of the Federation starship USS Enterprise, [ he falters: ] not that that... really matters here, I guess. [ a half-hearted attempt to return to sounding official: ] I got here- "woke up" --roughly two nights ago, and, [ and it falls apart. ] I've gotta say, for a city in the middle of what was reportedly a bountiful forest, I'm feeling underwhelmed by the cuisine here. Is there any place around here to get something good? I'll eat just about anything, I just [ he laughs quietly. ] ...can't cook. I can hunt if I have to, but I'd rather go with someone until I learn the basic lay of the land.
Mm, and while I'm here, I need to get a job or something or I'm going to go insane, so if anyone needs a fully-trained starship captain...? I'm your man.
Thanks. [ awkwardly, because he's not sure how to end this transmission: ] Kirk out.

[ that name sounds familiar. she knows him or something, that's pretty obvious- he wonders if she works on the ship. ]
I wasn't aware you were here. I know Bones is around somewhere but I haven't seen him for more than maybe six minutes at a time, so I figured I was just on my own.

[ but those are the sorts of jobs he would regularly ditch while stlil living on earth, so he's trying to avoid them. ]
I just thought there might be something my skillset can specifically be used for. Security's not so bad. Not too far off, I guess.

Knowing you, you'll move up through the ranks fast enough.

[ he sounds amused too, until he gasps suddenly. ]
Chapel! That's right. Chapel, right. You're- You're Head Nurse, right?

Do you often try to save face by pretending to know people you can't remember?

[ might as well be honest, even though it sounds so terrible. ]
Especially if they give me their name and station first. I knew I had to know you from somewhere, if you gave me a station.
..Sorry. In my defense, nurses are Bones' job. You know. On duty.
[ nope that didn't sound good either, but he's sticking with it. ]

This place is lucky to have the Enterprise's top medical officials on board. [ nailed it. ] How much work do you guys get? I'm assuming a lot, considering he's never around, but that could just be Bones.

A sizable amount for a city this size. There are your accidents, your kidney stones, your broken bones. So it's a full shift every day.
[But she's not surprised he hasn't seen much of the good doctor.]

[In short: yes, probably, but I don't know how much he's told you, so I'm not saying more.]

I was gonna offer, but I'm not sure I should invite a stranger into my apartment.

[At this point, she can't even muster more annoyance. It's turning into amusement to see if he can dig himself any deeper.]
C'mon, you get three guesses and you can't contact McCoy for help.

[ he makes a little humming noise as he thinks. ]
Hmmm. Hm hm hm. I'm getting something kind of on the nose but I'm not sure why. Cathy? Cathy Chapel?

[She smiles to herself. He's really determined to get this. Unsurprising, given his track record of no win scenarios and all that.]

[ a long, silent pause. ]
....Caaarol? Carol Chapel. ..Thaaat's not right either, is it.
