I've heard about the collars that neutralize a person's magical abilities.
Do they still use those in this new Verdana?
If so, how do they react when used on a non-human?
Are they turned human too or are their abilities simply taken away?

I'm fairly sure they're not designed to be lethal. I'm still rather glad that no one is likely to try collaring you, though, just in case.

From what I understand, they take anyone wearing them back to human baseline. I couldn't use my biotics when I had one put on me -- I could try the mnemonics for them, but nothing would happen.

If you've got three people willing to take it off you the second anything started freaking you out, I still have the one they put on me... although I guess they put it on me for a different reason in this timeline. Or maybe I just had it for some other reason.

It's confusing, but to make a long offer short, I still have one on hand I could dig out if you want to experiment.

I am sure the Winds would get really pissed off if anyone tried to force me into one.
So it's definitely good that nobody would try.

That seems to be the general consensus!
All 'non-human' abilities whether they be passive or not are negated
If what you and the others have been saying is accurate.

Since I don't trust the Outer Authorities not to find out about us eventually

Most people, or people who aren't used to technology? The collars aren't necessarily comfortable, but I haven't had any lingering effects from my time wearing one, and I have a lot of tech wired up in my head that will go wrong if it can.

I'm not 100% sold on the Outer Authorities' motives in this timeline, but I think you'd pretty much have to prove yourself a threat for them to want to do anything. Don't interfere with the barrier wall, and don't do anything like break their quarantine and not decontaminate after and I can't see them trying to collar you.

If you wanted to let people see what you looked like, or if you were just curious, those are reasons enough for me to let you try it. Again, though, you need three people to take it off.

Although I still don't trust the Authorities
I know I'll likely never be perceived as a threat
But I know of someone who might, in the future
And I'd like to make sure it wouldn't hurt them.

Explaining something as an aspect of a different branch of reality is citing the many worlds principle.

My world has a lot of new age lunatics. That doesn't make them right. It makes them people who cling to fiction instead of trying to understand how something actually works.

And who are you to decide exactly what does and doesn't follow the 'many worlds principle'?

The 'different worlds principle' I'm familiar with is that - according to psychics - there is an infinite number of universes: one for every possible outcome. That means there is a 100% probability that beings like Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy exist in at least one of those infinite universes.

Either way, all you seem to be wanting to do is make yourself feel good by attempting to prove to yourself that I am nothing more than one of the 'new age lunatics' you're so familiar with.

So either stop being a condescending know-it-all, or stop responding to me.

Not saying you should. Paranoia keeps you alive. It's just less of a worry now than it was before and besides they can't see you which, I assume, would make it harder for them to capture you if, for some reason, they did want to put a collar on you. [Because obviously asking about it means he's worried.... right?]

Still, it's good to know what they could possibly do.

Dane would likely love that. He is a friend from home, Akito! I have at last found someone who truly knows me. He has been my friend since I was a child. When I awakened in the glass tomb after perishing from Tarbosaurus-inflicted injuries, I found him patiently waiting for me by my footlocker. You can imagine how happy I was to see him.

No, one other person who knows how to work them should do it. But that one other person and the collar isn't going to be me and mine unless you have your three with you. I don't want any misunderstandings about my intentions, and I don't want you trapped and freaking out without a really quick way out of it again. This is pretty heavy stuff you're curious about.

I don't know three people who would help me with this.
I know one person who might though.
Even if it's scary it's something I have to try.
