Video - Week 44, Wednesday - OPEN

[Elissa's expression is uncertain as she looks into the camera. For those who have visited Kozmotis' big home in the woods, it is obvious that she is sitting in the central area. The head of an enormous dog rests against her arm as if trying to look into the camera as well.]

Please forgive the intrusion, but... Has anyone seen Kozmotis of late? Dane and I have searched the surrounding woods, but tis difficult to track the man due to his shapeshifting abilities. If you have seen him or if he is with you, please let me know that he is safe. He has not answered his communications device.

[The large dog whimpers and licks at Elissa's worried face as she cuts the camera.]

[The shelves of books behind Belle are just as recognizable, if Elissa's ever been to the library.]

He might be lost in the fog. Have you been in contact with someone who can search safely?

Nay. Dane and I have ventured out together, but have not seen anyone else. Thankfully, his nose is always able to get us home. I have never seen a fog so strange. Does it often happen in Verdana?

[It finally registers with Elissa that Belle is actually standing in front of shelves full of books and her gloomy, worried mood lightens just a little.]

Are you actually in a library?

It does. It's left over from the wars. You shouldn't go out in it, if you haven't got the right equipment. It will make you ill.

[She glances over her shoulder, one corner of her mouth quirking up in a wry sort of smile.]

That's why I'm in the library. I was working when the fog hit.

[And in her opinion, if ever there was a good place to be stranded for an unknown period of time, the library would be it.]

I will admit that I have felt strange each time we have returned to the house. Dane seems especially watchful and growls at the doors even when nothing is there. Is it as bad in the city as it is here in the woods?

[Elissa exhales and glances sidelong toward the front door.]

I had hoped to obtain some fresh meat to supplement our dinner, but now I am thinking twould be prudent not to go out. [Her large dog can be heard growling in the background.] Kozmotis' absence has me worried and this place is quite empty with only myself and Dane within it.

[Belle frowns slightly.]

It's very thick here, but I...haven't really been out to the woods to make a comparison.

Nor should you, if tis dangerous as you suggest. This location may be isolated, but that means we have stores rather than relying on day-to-day trips to a market. Dane and I will be well.

Tell me more of this library! I am suddenly envious that you have an entertaining way to pass the time. While there is food here, we are sorely lacking in entertainment. I can only throw an old shoe for Dane so many times before it loses its appeal.

I have not, I am afraid.

[ She is often in the woods. ]

Helga, yes? I thank you for your response. Will you please keep an eye out for him?

I shall. Do you know where in the woods he particularly likes to visit?

Nowhere in particular, no. Outside of our homestead, I mean. I would not be worried, but he gives no response to the messages that I leave for him.

It is just not like him to be gone for so long.

Have you checked the ship?

[Elissa's face falls further.]

No. Not with this fog. Frankly, I have avoided letting my thoughts move in that direction. I cannot imagine what might have killed him, if that is where he rests. He is one of the most formidable men that I have ever met.

How so?

He is extremely old and has the ability to converse with all animals native to his homeland. Kozmotis can also shapeshift into those same creatures. Those abilities are enough to make him formidable, but he is also quite deadly with a blade and was a general for at least one war.

Frankly, I would be extremely frightened of anything that managed to kill him.

I see.

[ Helga has not yet heard of the sort of Animagus that could transfigure themselves into multiple types of animals. ]

I shall be on my best guard in the forest.

[And this isn't the first person to go missing. Lyall is hesitant to mention the ship first, so he offers:]

I have not seen him lately, no. Though once the fog clears, if you have something with hsi scent, I could probably track him. He does have the a similar smell, no matter what form he wears.

Would a blanket or pillow from his bed do? I have had Dane sniffing one of the pillows, but we have had no luck even with Alistair to aid us. Of course, with the way he lumbers around in the woods, tis a wonder he has not scared away anything in the vicinity.

Having a sentient doing the tracking might help.

[As would having an idea of where to look, and the brains to remember where you're going.]

Once this fog lifts, I'll be glad to meet you and have a look.

Elissa, if he's not back when the fog clears, you should come back to Poseidon. Chime is gone, and . . . things are happening. You probably shouldn't be alone.

Chime is gone as well? Oh, no.

[Her expression falls.]

I liked him quite a lot. You should not worry, however. Alistair has been in and out of the place! He is fairly sure that Loghain is about and I will be most delighted to see him, if so. It is really wonderful to find more people from home even if I should be sorry that are not still safely in Ferelden.

They shouldn't be out there either! The fog is dangerous. Does your home have windows that close?

Well, yes. I have also closed the shutters. We close the flue to the fireplace when we do not need to cook, but Dane does have to go outside from time to time. He is a large dog, you know.

[As if in response, the canine barks in the background to prove he's real and not just another hallucination.]

Trust me, if I had my way, Loghain would be safely within these walls instead of lost. Alistair has even teased me about it. So far, tis my hope that he is safe - we have not heard one of his war cries, so I do not think he has found a need to do battle.

[The dog is clearly real, and she's giving Elissa the benefit of the doubt for now about the new people. It's possible, and she doesn't really know Elissa well enough to know if she's acting strangely]

The Authorities have masks so they can breathe safely. They can direct your friend somewhere safe until the fog clears. If you think it would help, you can send him a message to that effect with the communicator. The fog is poison. Alistair won't be able to battle it, no matter how strong he is.

Poison? [The news very nearly makes her laugh.] Surely, you jest. It obscures the vision, certainly, and has an unpleasant taste, but I cannot say that Dane and I have been adversely affected when we are out.

[The dog gets closer to the screen and he barks again in a more urgent tone that causes Elissa to sigh in exasperation.] Alistair, will you please try to calm him? I can barely hear myself think.

[Dane continues to bark and no other sound can be heard except for Elissa.]

It is worrisome to think that Loghain is out there somewhere, however. I have tried to send him a communication, but the network cannot locate him. There are very important things that I must say to that man.

[Okay, so that's a bit suspicious]

Can the network locate Alistair?

[Elissa peers at the feed.]

Why would it not? I have had no need to message him, however. He has been here for most of the time.

[She looks up at the room and then laughs.]

He said to tell you that the King of Ferelden says hello. For someone who protested so very strongly at my idea to make him king, he seems quite happy to use the title when it suits him.

[Dane is still insistently barking at Elissa and she is growing more and more irritated.] Dane! Be QUIET!

Elissa, there's no one there. How long were you outside?

[She looks quizzically up at 'Alistair' again as if waiting for him to offer his estimate.]

Uhm... a few hours, perhaps? If that. I did not truly keep an accounting of it.

[Elissa suddenly jumps in surprise and looks toward the door with a laugh and an instantly joyous expression.]

He is here. He is here! I must go. Tis Loghain.

[The entire time that she is speaking, she is moving to from her chair and across the room according to the video feed. There is a click as she unlatches the door and opens it.]

Hello, you.

[And the feed goes dead.]
