[Video] Bored God-Princes Get Ideas
[The camera is pointed a bit crookedly at an ordinary kitchen counter, a bowl of water and a scruffy teenager with a steaming mug both perched on it. Loki's given up his Asgardian clothes and let his hair grow out some, and nowadays looks wholly unremarkable. But smug. Really smug. Misbehaving cat smug, at the moment. He twitches his fingers a bit and the water in the bowl rises up in the form of a snake, undulating as if to strike for a few moments before freezing solid, then falling away into mist.]
...Oh, alright, it's a bit of a parlor trick, but I thought it might get people's attention and it's safe to point this device at.
[And he preferrs using a bit of spellwork he knows as well as breathing, juuuust in case.]
I've noticed that fellow sorcerers are a bit scarce on the ground here, among we ship-folk. Not that I've ever been anywhere that you'd find sorcerers in great proliferation, even Alfheim, but it seems as though most of the scholars out of the pods are scholars of a more mundane kind. I suspect it's at least a bit due to the preponderance of humans. You seem to be better at that sort of thing. And it's all well and good, but it makes life a bit dull for those of us who are more ethereally inclined.
So I'd like to do a headcount of the magicians we do have, of whatever sort, if you don't mind. And perhaps we could meet at least every so often? I'm only an apprentice and I'm falling terribly behind, and how often is one going to encounter so many schools of magic at once? We really should be exchanging notes all we can, before something else goes wrong. Even if you do a sort of magic that no one's likely to be able to learn, like Jack does, at least it'd be interesting to talk about.
[A brief pause as he thinks back through his tangent-filled, over-caffeinated, self-congratulatory blather.]
Oh, yes, if you don't know me, I'm Loki. And--
[He's interrupted by the whistling of a teakettle.]
Right, that's all.
[Click.]

[Private audio. Cuz he's figured that out, now.]
[He sounds amused more than annoyed, however, since he's not doing this where everyone can see him.]
But I must admit I am curious what you come up with. We'll see if I decide to show my face, hmm?

[Still amused, and it's pretty obviously he's not about to change his speech patterns because of some boy.]
What do you plan on doing with this group of sorcerers, if you manage to get us all together, if I might ask?
no subject
[He can be snide, too!]
Honestly, I hate the thought of stagnating. Even if it's not my sort of magic, at least studying everybody's will keep anything from getting too rusty.

It's a good idea, and probably better than nothing. You probably need an actual tutor, however. Don't you.
[He's been stewing on this since he ran into the boy earlier, and he's really not known for stewing on things for too long.]

[Her voice is haughty and just a little confrontational, but lacks the subtle 'I will tear you apart' undertones it carries when she's genuinely upset. This is mostly just an academic point to her.]

I'm a mix myself, I suppose. I've got some knowledge of the mystic arts but not the affinity for it. Not exactly, anyway.

Anyway, I do have some ability to negate magic, so if a spell goes wrong I may be able to help.

[ It's her way of asking if Loki is that Loki and if Helga should be on her guard for pranks and such. ]

[He assumes it's just the Asgardian cadence that gave him away. They're not particularly alike at all.]

[ Helga is silent for a moment. ]
It seems you have some skill in charms.
[ Like Neville and if she is considering giving Neville lessons, she might ought to do the same for Loki. ]
My name is Helga Hufflepuff. I am a witch.

[Bothering Neville is fun, and the other boy's too polite to rebuff him the way he probably deserves. But more is certainly better!]

Finding another way to keep yourself busy, I see.

Yes?

Nothing. I was just remarking...
Are you sure this is really a good idea? I don't know all the magic users that have made it to Verdana, but some of them might not be altogether trustworthy. [Yes, let's totally pretend that's her main concern. By all means.]
