Probability, on some level, has at least failed in one of its repeated and oft-fantastically-sucessful attempts to throw me into a pit of inconvenience. And yet I can only imagine that this object's activation will only lead to deeper such holes.
[The elf facepalms, apparently taking a moment to think.]
I am indeed aware of this being some sort of recieving and transmitting device, before one makes the assumption that I am speaking to myself. I lack my familiar presently, so it would serve no purpose regardless. I request information, to fix my absence of knowledge regarding this environment. It appears to be Screened against any divination, leaving conventional information requests my immediate recourse. Though if one desired to make things this difficult, one could have not stored my component pouch and spellbook in such an easily-accessible area and been done with it.
[They throw their hands into the air, frustrated.]
To be blunt and repetitive, though the situation somewhat calls for it: Where am I and how would one leave?
[To think this could be escaped with a Plane Shift or (less likely) Greater Teleport, but, well, Conjuration...]

World known as Verdana. Woke up on vessel. Arrived via quantum dimensional shift. Precise mechanism of action still under study. Reversal attempts currently [sniff] unsuccessful. Data acquisitions continues.

If what you claim is correct, I am once again removed from Sir Greenhilt and company until further notice. I am sensing a pattern. Given the circumstances, I may as well cease my attempts to become relevant again. [The elf briefly seizes up. The last time they did something 'important'...stop thinking about that now; they'd already had their breakdown.]
Have you acquired access to a source of the Plane Shift spell, perhaps, and if so, was the attempt successful?
Re: Video
Not spell. Technological. In recesses of vessel. Tech crew searching.

[Considering what had just happened before Verdana, V is fairly calm. Having just woken up, sleep tends to do that, even for those who don't normally sleep.]
Re: Video
[As Shepard had made clear]
Should be able to return to moment of departure. Once departure possible. Engineering team working on that. Could always use advice on dimensional locomotion.

Re: Video
[Also he just liked sending these people Kaidan's way]
Stark also likely interested.

Oh hell, another of you. If you can promise not to start hurling arcane mumbo-jumbo every which way, I could give you directions to a library.

Re: [Video]
[The ears look Vulcan, the rest is... well, Bones may be a doctor, but he's getting no clues as to what the specific anatomy being whipped out would be.]
Well, I'd be the one stuck patching them back up again. As usual. So restrain yourself if it won't make you pull a muscle to do so.
I will not argue against your point, as I agree with your concerns. I have recently learned firsthand of the collateral damage that can occur through ill-use of even a single, albeit powerful, spell, and have taken pains in my daily spell selection to reduce the resultant capacity for destruction. Were you to have delivered your argument several hours ago, I may have contested it, but I have indeed learned the lesson. Whether you consider this concession a pre-emptive failure or mere prudence is at your discretion. Mage Hand.
[The camera rises of its own accord to be at a more natural angle. There's a faint purple glow at the edges of the screen. V could easily have picked it up manually, but this is also a test to see how the healer (?) would react.]
[He pauses at the command and the sudden shift and glow at the edges of the screen. His reaction takes the form of a world-weary sigh and a hand lifting to pinch the bridge of his nose.]
Oh, you're one of those sorts. If you're the particular strain where stating your intentions out loud involves sudden wardrobe changes... just don't make a mess. You'll find the local library near the heart of the port town called Poseidon. It's a few kilometres away from the ship. The locals have set up accommodations for us there, too.
It would be prudent to visit Posiedon instead of wandering around in what appears to be a wasteland, though I still require the other component of the direction-magnitude vector from my position.
Bones greets that preemptive bit of defiance with a slow lizard-blink..
You can't swing a cat at the people from the ship without hitting someone claiming to use magic. Just don't frighten the horses, or fill my emergency room, and I couldn't care less. As for direction-magnitude vector, have you tried just asking someone for a lift?
[Video] so much late

The road in the best condition will take you away from the Old City and towards Poseidon. Follow that.

I'm afraid you're trapped on this planet, like the rest of us. Welcome to Verdana.
My name is Randolph Lyall. I could give you the summary, if anyone else hasn't gotten to it first, or directions down to the Old City and Poseidon, beyond it. But rest assured, we've all woken up in a similar situation.

I have not scribed Locate City into my spellbook and I am becoming increasingly uncertain that I will be able to add to its contents in any reasonable timeframe upon Verdana, thus, instructions would be welcomed.

[He sets about typing some up, to send to V, while he continues speaking. Lyall is old enough to multitask, even if he looks and sounds a little distracted. At least this explanation is old hat, by now.]
There appear to be between thirty and forty of us, though the number varies from week to week as some individuals disappear back into their pods or else leave the city, and a few people do not seem to have checked in recently. I've been trying to compile a list. As for outside the vessel--
[How nice to use decent words again. Everyone else just calls it the ship.]
--there are two cities, the Old City just down the mountain-- a military base with some housing attached-- and Poseidon, several hours' walk and an hour or two at a drive away from the Old City. Most of us live in Poseidon, as the most amenities and occupations are to be had there. There is also the plague barrier, which I strongly advise you not cross, for even if you did not catch the deadly disease it protects from, it will likely result in your being shot.

To respond to your greeting in turn, I am Vaarsuvius, practitioner of evocations as preference, capable of all but the most powerful of common wizard spells. Your assistance is appreciated; all members of my party are absent, which includes those much better suited to social interaction and self-sufficiency. [Wizards can only sort of do everything.]

[He's flattered by the compliment, even if it comes from a gender-ambiguous fellow with pointed ears and without much in the way of backing for it. Nobody's bothered to call him smart in a while, is all.]
I suppose my only real defining feature here is that I'm a werewolf, though I like to think I am not too terrible with the social interaction aspects of things.
There is also a housing facility for those us from the ship-- that seemingly underground place where you woke. These directions I'm sending lead you to it. Lodging and board is free, though very plain. It does well enough while one is looking for employment.
[And away go the directions. V's comm device pings at the receipt of a text file.]
laaaaate
that's okay, we backtag into oblivion here :B
[He needs a gendered title, dammit ;.; So he goes with the one he thinks will be less offensive if he's wrong.]
If you need anything further, feel free to pay me a call. I spend the weeks in the Old City, but the weekends in Poseidon with the others, and I can always be reached on this communication device.

It is less about brevity and more... where I come from, it is considered incredibly rude to refer to someone one has only recently met by their given name. Either we use an honorific such as sir or miss or, at the least, a family name.
If you have or wish neither, however, then I shall endeavor to call you as you wish.
