[The backdrop is a middling familiar one to anyone who's been paying the slightest bit of attention to the goings-on with Salvation, consoles of a futuristic bent: mostly functional, bulkheads: some damaged. Kaidan is leaning up against one of the bits of better-repaired tech, his communicator propped up to let him speak as if giving an interview.

(To the annoyance, somewhere in the multiverse, of one Diana Allers, he seems a lot more open about this one.)]

So, ah, hey there.

This is Kaidan Alenko, since I know we've had some new people wake up since the last time I was on the network. I'm one of the people that's been working on the ship, among other things, and I figured I should let you all know how it's going.

Ah... specifically I'm trying to bring Salvation's ship's AI back online. AIs are kind've a touchy subject back where I'm from, and I imagine that's probably not an isolated experience, so I thought I may as well put this out there so people can get any questions or concerns out now, instead of after they've tried storming the ship and ended up put inside a force field by it.

If there are any newly decanted engineers or other folks with mechanical or electrical skills, we could sure use more hands on this project too. I'm hoping that bringing Salvation back online will let us figure out how best to fix her so we can work on getting home again.

[Todd looks a little lost, because he isn't sure just what Kaidan's getting at there. So he goes with the simplest response:]

Just don't remind her if she doesn't remember, okay? I don't want back in that cell. I didn't even do nothin'.

[Except get into places he shouldn't and mess with equipment and stuff. Be a stupid teenage boy.]

I'll keep that in mind.

And hey, If you ever want to take a look at things, check in with me -- I'd rather give you a crash course than have you end up getting stuck in a force field just for being curious.

[Todd isn't sure whether that's nice of him or condescending of him.]

[Unwittingly condescending while trying to be nice? Mild but earnest failing at people skills wouldn't be entirely out of the question for an Awkwardlenko, although he usually does better around people not named Shepard.]

Oh, basic console repairs, how to get a sense of what the readouts on here are telling you about an area, that kind of thing. I mean, the end goal is that you want to be able to explore, yeah?

[Todd is also touchy as all hell, so it could be a little of both. He eyes Kaidan once more, then huffs and deflates a bit.]

Well. All right. Sure. You can show me how that stuff works sometime.

Come see me next time you're out at the Ship. I could use people who want to do some exploring-- there's a hell of a lot more ship I want to know about than I have time to map out.

[He sounds bemused. An adult being helpful? How often does that happen? It turns quickly into gears turning in his brain, though.]

You payin' for that explorin'? Or's it just, when I got time and stuff?

I, ah, don't really have a huge budget myself. That said, I'm getting paid for what I do, so if you can convince Leah she might open the purse strings a little for you, too.

If you're a quick study on learning how to interpret the consoles, I'd even vouch for you.

I do like video games.

[He looks hopeful, and maybe a bit bashful. Somebody is kind of maybe suggesting he might be good at something! This never happens!]
