[Usually by this time of night, Thor is back from his daily work with the Authorities, trying to wrangle wraiths. Since he can fly, and fly quickly, he always tries to be home for dinner with Loki, even if he doesn't stay.

Tonight, though, he's putting a message up on the network, one which flickers randomly between color and sepia-toned, and occasionally goes fuzzy enough to static over his words. What can be seen of him between the poor connection is obviously wan and tired, more so than probably anyone but Loki and Tony has ever seen him, and even a bit like he's been beaten on. It's hard to make out the background, but someone with sharp eyes might recognize where they were decontaminated after the time travel shenanigans, or at least someplace like it.]

Ah, hello, everyone. I have good news! And I-- fzzt-- slightly bad news. The good news is, the wraiths, at least fzzt, appear to be confined within the plague shields. It was a terrible fight. I would not recommend-- fzzt-- attempt it.

The rather bad news, however, is I-- fzzt-- those shields, as well. So... I am in this decontamination facility for-- fzzt-- until the good healers release me as fit for interacting with the rest of-- fzzt.

... I am sorry I missed dinner, Loki.

[Then static overtakes the message entirely. He'll be back, it just might take him a few minutes.]

[He looks collected and slightly annoyed, but Thor knows him well enough to see some disappointment. He doesn't like it when his brother's away.]

Just give me sufficient warning so I can make enough for your return.

[After a minute or two, Thor finally shows up again to respond. The connection is not any better than it was before.]

I shall try. How much-- fzzt-- sufficient? I am not certain they will tell me in advance-- fzzt-- release me, but I could endeavor to fly very slowly if it will help.

[At the moment, he rather looks like he will be flying rather slowly, regardless. He looks like a tired and slightly floppy puppy.]

Perhaps we'll just go and eat at a restaurant that night.

[Though there are some things he could probably cook quickly. He was just trying to tease back and not be too much of a downer.]

What's interfering with your communicator so? Is it damaged, or is it something to do with those shields?

[Thor frowns down at the screen, though not at Loki in particular.]

I do not-- fzzt-- it may be the shields. Or perhaps there is-- fzzt-- these buildings which makes it harder to-- fzzt.

[The view shakes a little, as if Thor is shaking the communicator. In fact, that is exactly what he's doing.]

I, eh, doubt you'll be able to diagnose the issue from there.

[Not Thor's sort of thing. Besides, the shaking makes him a little dizzy.]

You'll know when you leave them, after all.

Indeed, and possibly a more-- fzzt of determining the problem. I shall attempt to-- fzzt-- once I am released.

Is everything all right, at home? Have I missed anything-- fzzt!

[This isn't Tony's concerned face. Honest. Not even a little.

You know, if you wanted a challenge, you could have started with wrestling a T. rex.

But these were causing trouble. I could not-- fzzt-- offer what aid I could. I am much more durable than-- fzzt-- and the wraiths do seem to like me.

[A lot. He looks a little abashed at that expression, though.]

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that by "like" you mean "want to bad-touch you", not "want to have a tea party".

[Because it seems like the obvious interpretation, but this is an alien planet that has velociraptors. And giant bone-anemone-things. Maybe the wraiths really are looking for a playmate.]

[Unfamiliar with the reference, Thor repeats, sounding as puzzled as the static allows:]

'Bad touch'? I admit, it was not very pleasant, but-- fzzt-- Asgardian energy may be some-- fzzt-- delicacy to such creatures. I do not know. But they followed me more-- fzzt-- so I could keep it away from the others, to some measure.

[And that bit sounds pleased. He's proud to have been nommed on if it got the wraiths contained and the Authorities safe.]

I'm happy to hear you survived without what appears to be any major injuries, and that you were able to succeed at your mission, it sounds.

I'm sorry to hear you have to stay there, however. Hopefully it won't be for long?

It will be a few days, or-- fzzt-- told... I will be missing that party-- fzzt-- for tomorrow, I fear.

[Not that he minds terribly. It doesn't really sound like his kind of party, from what he's been told by the Authorities he'd been spending the past week or so with.]

I didn't intend to go, myself. Frankly I'm certain I have more important places I could be.

[He chuckles tiredly.]

I confess I was not-- fzzt-- to it, myself, but I felt I ought to attend, if just-- fzzt-- prince of Asgard. I am trying to learn-- fzzt-- good king, for when my father steps-- fzzt-- find I am not well suited to events such as that.

[She has her suspicions what the answer is already, really. But hey, why not talk it out.]

Are the Healers treating you well?

[He flashes her a wan smile.]

As well as can be expected. They are-- fzzt-- with me for being here, at all, but-- fzzt-- job to look after me. It is not the most comfortable, how-- fzzt!

What are they treating you with and how?

They appear to be finished with the treating part. There was an uncomfortable shower and they took some of my blood away, but mostly I am waiting to see if I am infected.

[He obviously does not think he is. Thor tends to think he's invincible, anyway, but plague? Pfft. He's just tired and a little hurty.]

[A concerned golden face pops up on the network. Sandy doesn't really know the guy, of course, but he certainly looked awful. And was talking about things that he hadn't heard about yet. Truthfully, as diminished as his powers were without much belief to shore them up, Sandy wasn't tempted to explore much outside the city.]

[Thor blinks at the unfamiliar face, but smiles, as well. Whoever he is, he looks friendly, and he can recognize concern, at least.]

I am well enough, little man. I don't believe I've-- fzzt!-- you before?

[Sandy looks both comforted and delighted at his reassurance. The man can see him! He wipes his hand across his brow and sighs mutely in relief. Then pops right back up, bowing at the camera.]

S A N D MAN!

[He's still working out how spaces work, forgive him.]

Well met, Sandman!

[He doesn't make the connection, that not being part of his own lore-- he sees him less from belief and more from being a magical sort of being, himself. Alien or not. But he does smile.]

[Well, Sandy's something of an alien, too, so it all works out! He covers his mouth in mock surprise, eyes widening, then gives Thor a more formal, deep bow. Been a long time since he's met a prince!]
