[ Okay, so he's not wearing a shirt. But he's got his pants and gun belt on, weapons all secure so there's that at least. And he's pissed as he glares at the damn device. ]

[ Pause. Shrug. The device is tucked into his pocket. ]

Takin' the gorram thing anyway. If folks're gonna be dumb enough ta leave their things with mine, I ain't lookin' ta give it back. Nice lookin' anyhow. Sell it fer somethin'.

[ Pause. There's shuffling as he puts on his shirt. ]

[Zevran is not a frequent member of the welcoming committee that seems to form around new arrivals on the network, but the elf is nothing if not capricious and something about Jane and his priorities suggests entertainment can be found. Thus, a comm call pings in with a view of what probably looks like some core dandy wealthy enough to have his ears modded to points. The elf's found himself a sunny rooftop where the wind takes care of most of the summer's heat, and a bottle of wine is helping to soothe away the rest.]

And what kind of 'something' would you be selling your new find for, ser? I must commend your ability to grasp the market of this world so rapidly.

[ Jayne pulls the device back out, but takes a moment. Hell, he's still trying to get use to it. This whole thing, really. ]

I'm needin' some guns. Ain't got much right now. Left most of 'em on my ship and it ain't here.

[Zevran smiles then, although the expression has more in common with a lazy cat than with honest delight. He reaches over and shifts the angle of his communicator to show the rifle resting beside him and the brace of what appear to be local pigeons beside that.

I can appreciate a man's fondness for keeping his weapon where he can get his hands on it at will. [Because life, apparently, is not worth living without innuendos.] Alas that the worth of your device will not get you as close to one as you would like... I assume you wish the gun to fire?

[ Innuendo went over his head. Sorry, Zevran. Though he might get it later, once he learns what the guy's really like. ]

Yeah, that'd be the point of gettin' a gorram gun - to shoot and kill. Ain't needin' nothin' fancy yet. Just 'nough ta be able to fight. [ Pause. ] Place got jobs I can take ta be able to get guns?

Tch, [Zevran clucks his tongue with a wave of his free hand.] You may have been a collector, ser. I have seen it for myself -- once a man has his hands on a single piece of fine equipment, he finds himself wanting more.

[But even Zevran can provide useful information from time to time. He decants some now.]

To work in exchange for a gun, I would recommend that you speak with Edmund once you reach the town of Poseidon. If you care for something closer to the ship, there is a woman, Leah, who is the head of the local guardians of the barrier wall. They have been having some difficulties with strayed mountain goats, I am told. Perhaps they would loan you a rifle.

[ Jayne grins a bit. ]

Got me a whole lotta guns back on the ship. Ain't here though, don't sound like. Neither's my money.

[ He's not happy about either. ]

Ain't 'fraid of goin' far, so long as this place ain't got no Reavers. There ain't Reavers here, are there?

I have not seen such things about... but when I think of reavers, I think of warriors who have used blood rituals to gain unholy strength and power.

[Zevran may be one of the less-magical sons of Thedas to come tumbling out of a stasis pod, but he has had time to note the almost universal lack of magic from te other realities present.]

Nah, we ain't thinkin'a the same thing. Ain't a bad thing. Don't need them Reavers runnin' 'round here. Those things ain't human.

[ He's curious what he means by blood rituals, but he lets it go, it's not important. ]

Is it being non-human that is the key feature of these 'Reavers'? I am afraid we may yet have to disappoint you if this is the case...

[Apparently the subtle differences between an elf and a human who's had cosmetic surgery strike again. Perhaps the turian will make more of an impression, but in the meantime Zevran waits appreciatively for an answer.]

Yeah, but they ain't just weird lookin'. They're monsters. Skin people, rape 'em, kill 'em. If yer lucky, they'll kill ya first but ain't a lot of folks that're that lucky. Mosta the time, it's skinnin' then rapin' then the folks die of damn blood loss er somethin'. Least from what I heard.

[ Yeah, that means you're weird looking, but hey, at least you're not a Reaver. ]

[Considering the epithets Zevran's had flung at him before, an implied weird is pretty mild.]

Ah. Well, I assure you that I prefer my partners to enjoy their experience, and while I do enjoy fine leather I do not think human flesh is best suited to it, no?

[As for the killing people part of it, Zevran prefers the artistry of a clean and well-remunerated kill... but doesn't feel inclined to chat about this on an open network.]

Regardless, you need not fear these Reavers if you leave the great ship. The town awaits you, ser, with plentiful bars and companionship that's delightfully free of diseases.

Didn't think you was a Reaver anyway. They ain't the speakin' type. Ain't no human part that makes any good armor anyhow.

[ Jayne just likes shooting people. Plain and simple. ]

Good. Needin' a drink. Got a place I can get one of 'em?

I? Many, ser, I prefer to not pin my drinking in a single establishment. For you, though...

[Zevran trails off, giving the man a considering look with his lips pursed wnd two fingers lightly touching them.] I would recommend the taverns near the Poseidon docks. Even with the curfew in place, they remain an excellent location for a bar fight.

[ Jayne smirked. Oh yeah, this guy understood him well. ]

Sounds like my kinda place. How do I get there?

If you are trusting to your feet, then leave the ship and walk for a day down the road until you reach the town of Poseidon. If you prefer to take your day's exertion in other forms, my friend, then I suggest you hail a ride from one of the vehicles that goes between the Old City outside of the great ship and the town. Not all of them belong to the authorities.

[For some reason, Zevran's getting the sense that Jayne's not a law and order type. Aren't assumptions cruel?]

... I'll just walk. I ain't lookin' ta be picked up by no law. Day long trek ain't nothin' fer me.
