[Kaylee's trying very hard to stay calm. Stress is bad for the baby. Which really makes all this lousy timing.
So she's trying to deal with this entire situation by the method she's learned from many of her nearest and dearest.]
You know. My favourite thing about Verdana is all the stuff that happened in Mayfield that doesn't happen here. You could count on people to actually stay the same person from day to day. I promise, I am plenty grateful already, I didn't need the reminder.
[She keeps reminding herself that Luke and everybody else will be back to normal sooner or later. But it's not terribly comforting right now.]
I am too hormonal to deal with this.
[She nearly ends the transmission there, but then she remembers one more thing. Luke was supposed to pick things up on his way home from work. And now she's feeling even worse than before.]
Could... somebody pick me up some ginger and crackers? Please?

M'lady? [He pokes his head through the doorway with a cocky grin, goodies in hand. His sister's taught him a healthy respect for women, especially if they're under stress.]

[His speech is just this side of unintelligibly fast. He opens up the bag.]
Didn't know what kind of ginger you wanted, so I got ginger cookies, ginger ale, ginger candy, candied ginger, and, uh, ginger ginger. And crackers. What's up? Not feeling well? You seem kinda stressed out.
[Normal people would have to, y'know, breathe while they were talking.]

[She's only catching every other word in all that babble. But she's getting the important point. And has suddenly found herself with more ginger related products than she can shake a stick at.]
Everything goin' all kuangzhe de really ain't helpin' the mornin' sickness.

But I'm guess that's not what the, uh - well, Chinese isn't my strong suit. But I'm assuming it ain't good. Need to talk?
[He hops up on a bare spot of counter, crossing his legs and lacing his fingers over his knee primly. Hey, he had time.]

[She shakes her head]
Which as goin' fine until folk started actin' like... not themselves.

[Pietro winces a little]
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess I'm not the guy - or one of the guys - that managed to upset you, because you haven't tried to clock me yet. [Yeah, his sister has definitely influenced his ideas about typical behavior in women] But I guess I'll apologize anyway, on behalf of those of us who aren't, uh, ourselves.
Though I still darn well feel like myself.
Uh, anyway. Your problems. What's the deal?

[Given her current standard, that's not saying much.
She rubs her hand over her stomach]
My husband's suddenly claimin' we ain't married. And if he usually acted anythin' like that we wouldn't be.

[He wasn't so receptive to the idea at first either, but even he managed to cool his heels for long enough to realize that everyone was telling the truth. At least about the whole thing where he used to be another version of himself. Some of the rest he's still not sure about.]
He didn't hurt you, did he? [No, he doesn't really know Kaylee, but there's a glint in his eyes anyway.] Not that what he's already done isn't enough.

Just scared me. Kept yellin' about me leavin' him. Even though I know he can tell he's the baby's daddy.
[How could he argue with something like that? It should have meant something]

[Pietro looks a bit uncomfortable.]
I mean, if he's at all your husband, he should at least take the time to freaking listen!
