This fog is really quite pervasive, isn't it? Seems as though it's been here forever. In your lungs every time you breathe. Hulking and lingering and always there, even if you don't think about it. Off there in the distance, worrying everyone, as it's where we've come from, and that makes it quite important. I'm fairly sure its name is Salvation. Isn't that interesting? I wonder what it's Salvation from.
Speaking of, we could probably use some salvation from the fog. How long has it been here? I've forgotten. It's very hard to hold onto details in the fog, and it's very hard to hold onto sights. It's like all the buildings have grown farther apart.
Where is everyone? Have you noticed there's an awful lot of fog?

action;
The fog is fine, Charles, it's just the weather. Just the weather being the weather.

[ Yeah he's forgotten he's broadcasting. And so he's still broadcasting, as he sets the device down.
-- Oh wait, no, there he sees it. ]
Oh, look, I'm speaking to the, whatsit. Raven, come say hello.

[Waving from where she's sprawled out. Does she have to get up? Alright, she'll get up. She rolls herself off the cot, moves to sit next to him. Her arm links through his and she thinks nothing of it.]
... hello!

[ He stops.
And suddenly slams the OFF button.
Beat.
Another beat. ]
You know, I feel a bit panicked, but I can't quite remember why.
{ He hugs her arm. ]

I don't know why either. You're okay. [then she's smiling again] We're fine! [She'll even nudge him a bit with that same arm, rocking into him sideways with a short laugh.]

[ Don't mind the compliments, Raven, he's feeling a little flirty. ]

Has that line ever actually worked on anyone before?
no subject
In my defense, I was a rash young lad of sixteen.
[ his hand lifts, stroking her hair down, smoothing out little tangles, abstractly. ]

Anyhow, people's minds don't really work that way. They might think oh, I'd really like them to say this but then you say it and they find their emotional reaction isn't what they were expecting. Like, they may be unnerved or disappointed.
It's much more subtle trying to find out what a person really wants.

...Is that the name of the ship?
[Damn he is happy to have English back.]
A few days. It's ebbing up now.

[And he doesn't know if he'll catch himself if his language goes again.]

But you distracted me with that bit about Salvation.

Or whose hope for salvation.
I've never had much hope for it, myself, but everything changed here...
