So I hear the- uh...ship thing is having some problems. And I dunno if my specific set of skills might be helpful, but back home on Earth I was a pretty damn decent metalworker.
Need to patch up the haul or anything and give me a holler. Though like the best things, I'm not exactly free.
Labor that is. Negotiations?
[Locks out Shepard; He rather keep her opinion of him nice!]
Which leads me to my next order of bzn-nus.
[Fox holds up a small 10ml glass vial and gives it a little shake.]
This my friends is a little thing called...benzo...dia-ze pine? Fuck it. It's a wonderful little vial with two very excellent purposes. Medical for if you get your ass injured out here and wanna dull the pain or I don't know- perform surgery maybe and recreational for when you want to forget your ass is here.
[He closes his fist and reopens each finger slowly to show the vial is now gone! And in his other hand. Little show magic.]
Anyhoo, I'm willing to give this vial to anyone who can find me a forge. An abandoned one, a homemade one, one that is barely holding it together-- I don't care. I want a forge.
Seems like a fair trade for something you probably ain't going to find much of around here.
Takers?

But I can't. [That can't sounds an awful much like "won't".]
Forge is contained, I'm... not.

Six years is how long it took for me just to figure out how to give you the little show when we last met. Anything more than that and...and people just get hurt.
I don't know what else to do except try to keep it down.

[Hello again, familiarity.]
Have you given up already?
audio; locked
[Have a dry laugh.]
...but then I guess you figured it out. Maybe-- I dunno. I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

I've had my abilities for almost two decades now. It's only been during these past few months that I've learned to develop them further.
Giving up isn't an option for any of us.

[He scoffs because of course it is, it's apart of them.]
I wouldn't know where to even start to be honest. When I was a kid I-- well. I wasn't able to make much more than a campfires amount of fire. I use to be able to control it, but...now it feels like it has a mind of its own.
audio; locked
If you're willing to set aside time and put some effort in to it, I believe we may be able to come up with some way to...further your abilities, shall we say.
[Because this one, he's willing to take on himself. Charles may've been the one better equipped at helping young mutants, but Erik has more than enough experience in dealing with potentially dangerous abilities.]

[Fox has a bit of an aversion to burning people up, especially when they'd be so informative and awesome for lack of a better word.]
We can try I guess. At least this place is mostly deserted. [A dry laugh.]
audio; locked
[Because if need be, he'll ask Charles to keep an eye over them both. Just in case things do go wrong.]

[Fox takes a moment, looking Erik over as if weighing the choice carefully. He doesn't typically look directly at anyone and the moment doesn't last long. His eyes drop and he nods his head.]
Alright. I think it could work.

And in case you didn't notice, the forge is to make the metal to help fix that ship thing should we get into another little tiff with our hosts. Which is also aiding.

[It's clear from Jim's tone that most useful is never going to equal checking out in a drug-induced stupor, in his book.]

[His tone has gotten wary, but at least he hasn't flat out disagreed if that is something.]

Just isn't my style at the moment. I need a forge, some people need medical supplies. It's a barter run economy ya know.

Not all of us can afford high morals right now.

Unless you're gonna call the special crazy wasteland police on me, don't worry about it man.
It's my karma.

[Really?]
[audio; locked]
Big hot thing. Full of coal. Used for the previously mentioned blacksmithing.
A forge.

[Less work for him.]
I once saw a guy make a forge out of a sink and a tank of gasoline, but uh- not looking for that homemade. Gasoline is harder to come by out here I imagine anyway.
[audio; locked]
I'll see what I can do.
[audio; locked]
Keep me posted.
All that jazz. What else could I mean?
[Hudson is never serious.]
I don't fuckin' know what you could mean. That's why I fuckin' asked.
But yeah. Anvils and shit. You seen one?
Keep my eyes out for one.
You some kinda ....whatever blacksmith thing? They teach you that in fuckin' shop class or something?
[Stop with the pop-culture references, Fox.]
I'm a journeyman in smithing. Worked in the circus and fairs under a master blacksmith and got my little certificate and everything. Little bit more schooling required than high school shop.
I'm damn good though.
[This is Hudson's 'no really, do go on' face.]
If you're so damn good, why don't you barter some fuckin' horseshoes or chainmail instead of happyjuice, huh?
You're kinda new to this blacksmithing concept aren't ya? I can tell. It's okay. I almost died in a bog my first day here, we'll grade on that curve.
You're kinda new at the whole teamwork concept, there, pal, while we're on the subject.
Lemme break it down for you. We.[Big hand gesture, so you can't miss it.]Are stuck here [pointing at the ground] together. Last thing anyone's gonna get away with here is fuckin' over someone else, got it? Because there's nowhere to run except the crazy assholes in the domes.
[Does he have to explain why that's a terrible idea?]
If that ain't working as a team I don't know what is.
And besides, I'm pretty sure someone could get away with it if they really really wanted.
[Hey, he's out for number one, himself, but that is exactly the opposite of giving shit away for free. For a chunk of metal.]
Yeah? You haven't met the robot sniper robot dude yet, have you? [Has Hudson mentioned that Perceptor's a robot?]
[A pause.]
People tend to react better if they think they are going to get something. I don't put much stock in the comradeship stuff, so I threw in a bone.
[Seriously. Not really a creative guy, our Hudson.]
Yeah well you might wanna try not sounding like a street pharmacist next time. Don't sit right with some folks.
[Hudson could give a fuck, but, hey, appearances. ]
[He laughs.]
Good to know.
[Not really.]
Planning on starting up the biz here, huh?
S'what I do. Making nails and patching anything that needs patching up.
You got a job in mind?
