This is Gaheris Rhade and I've returned from a brief scouting expedition- [and he adds because Dylan had announced his alone-time.] -after unexpected delay. [Unexpected delays being a lot on his mind and curiosity about anything remotely dangerous.] Does anyone know anything about the body of water that used to be where the Wasteland now is?

I can't determine much. [Other than there was a dome in the middle of it. A lit dome. And he highly suspects it's the cause of that body of water being gone.]

Perhaps this is a very typical inquiry, but what have I missed?


*OOC: I need a way to break off the end of a boneblade for Loki's plot and am open to ideas, accidental and purposeful for ingredients.

I've rested sufficiently. [Even if he hadn't, he would say he had.] Would you like me to meet you?

Certainly, at your convenience. I'm at the house where we talked before. I've sort of moved in here, actually. There's a fireplace that works and a well with clean water in the garden. [And loads of privacy.]

[And he is. He looks mostly alright, he's just more tired and now that he's healed past the sunburn, a shade or two darker. He knocks at the front door when he reaches it.]

[The front door is actually slightly ajar, and in the pause before Sma opens it all the way, Rhade probably hears some banging about inside. When she opens the door, there's plaster dust in her hair and she's holding a mallet in one hand.]

Hey. Come on in and please forgive the mess. I was trying to fix one of the doors.

[The rooms are still a work in progress, but she leads him down to the stone-walled kitchen, where a fire burns in the fireplace. Of all the rooms in the house, this is the warmest and most home-like—the fact that she's primarily living out of this room is underlined by the bed pushed up against the wall. There are a couple of chairs, stone counters, shelves, but no table.]

[Before his adventure, he was playing the part of Dylan's carpentry bitch. So he comes in and has a seat on one of the chairs.] Plaster is a good look for you. [He'll never be too tired to tease. Never.]

Why thank you, Mr Rhade. I'll keep that in mind when I inevitably get bored with my hair.

Anything to drink? There's water, and I can put some hot water on for some of that coffee-like stuff that you find around here.

Water would be fine. [Water has been his friend for the last few days. He crosses his legs and shifts to where he can see her fireplace.]

The Wasteland used to be a lake. Then one of the domes managed to monopolize the water table. Now it's only populated by scavengers and poisonous predators.

[There's a ceramic water-butt on the counter, with a tap in the base—she goes to it and draws two cups from it, then hands one to him. She goes to prod the fire a little, then sits down across from him.]

Sounds infinitely charming. Bad environmental damage?

The entire ecosystem has been completely destroyed. There is no means to support life outside of scavenging and hunting life forms that have gone astray.

[He is not impressed. Not by a long shot.]

It was simply hot. [Whatever happens in his head doesn't count as happening to him. He looks up at her.] It was simply hot.

Have you heard much about the boy from the dome?

[She raises an eyebrow, but doesn't press.]

I've heard about him. Haven't gotten in to see him. They say he won't last long—his immune system won't take it.
