[Claire has been missing for a while now, and she's completely disoriented about waking up in the spaceship...

Again.

The pod opens and the petite blonde crawls out, first confused, and then hit with a wave of unmanageable terror. How long had she been in there? Had she skipped hundreds or thousands of years again? Is everyone already long dead and gone?

Hyperventilating and scrambling to the exit, Claire steps out into the rain. If no one is at the ship, she'll be sprinting down to the town to find someone she recognizes. Anyone. Anyone at all.]

[Claire still looks reasonably startled, but the stubbornness in her is keeping it as hidden as possible. She has the look on her face like one does when they are being brave because they have to be.]

Okay.. [She takes a shallow, sharp breath.] How long have I been gone?

[She's starting to calm down.] Has this happened to anyone else? Waking back up in your pod?

You're the first. [And she doesn't sound entirely pleased by that. Like whoever brought them here's changing the game without telling them the rules.]

[A flare of relief in the optics.]

There was an attack by the Authorities. I'd thought... [Well, never mind what he'd thought.]

The ship is losing power. Do you have lodgings in the Old City?

[Aw. She nods a little.] Yeah. Yeah, I've got a place. Was there another attack? I was.. Around for the first one.

..It looks like we've got a lot more people here now.

No. Just the one from the Authorities. But there was a fog, that may have been another attack. It affected your kind...strangely.

[He nods.] More are waking. There seems to be no pattern to it, still.

[Her mouth falls into a thin line at the new info.]

A fog? How did it affect.. My kind? [Could it be responsible for me being a pod-person again? :|]

...strangely. Some got more aggressive, some got more...giddy? It did not seem lethal, but it was distressing.

[She's still not exactly.. Okay with what happened with her being back in that pod for a month. But she's dealing. Pretty well, considering.]

They say I've been gone for over a month. Believe me when I say it wasn't intentional.

Somebody moved you back into the ship.

Rather useless gesture, when the ship's power is already draining.

[ His mind is elsewhere -- literally elsewhere, flitting through the thoughts of a gathered group half a mile away in the Old City -- when he runs straight into her.

His thoughts snap back to his body, and he grabs a rail for balance, letting out an oof kind of sound. ]

I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going.

[action] Feel free to mindread as much or as little as you want! She'll catch on fast. ><

[The impact makes her fall back. But not hard enough to hurt anything. Claire gets up quickly. The pure shock of waking up in the pod is still running through her, pumping through her bloodstream along with a healthy dose of adrenaline. At first, when she looks at Charles, she's obviously assessing his threat level. Even someone who couldn't read minds would know that.

But she recognizes him. A huge wave of relief takes over once she realizes that the people she met here are still here, after all. At least some of them have to be. She isn't alone again. Well, not completely.] It's okay, I uh-

[Claire glances around them. She's wondering how long she's been in that pod. Most things look the same. This is good.] I think it's okay.

[ He catches her panic -- how could he not? It draws him closer to her mind, like he's slipping, like falling down a muddy slope. ]

Still: my fault, I'm usually much better.

Are you all right?

[ He doesn't mean physically. ]

[She's distracted now, her mind rapidly going through theories on how she ended up back in that pod. Did someone put her in there? Did she go in herself, and just not remember? But why would she do that? Going even further into the future would be the last thing she'd want to-

She finally hears him, and her green eyes meet his again.] Yeah.

[She said that too quickly, and it's also a lie. Claire pulls back strands of wet hair plastered to her forehead and tries again.] No. No, not really. I just woke up in one of those alien pod things. Again. I have no idea how much time has passed or how I got in there.

It's all just.. A lot. [Claire looks around again and starts to take a few steps closer to the town, but she isn't leaving, not really. Not yet.]

Good Lord.

[ He understands the panic, now, unlocks it subtle like a quiet key in a closed door. ]

That's ... truly disturbing.

[ Should he offer to check, to sift through her memories? To try and find out what might have done it? Perhaps it's just the coffin-sickness; God knows Charles had plenty of that once he emerged. ]

You do remember me?

Assuming they never did get around to their talk before?

[Thanks to Sherlock, Claire's a little suspicious about who put her in that pod. He seems to think it was David. Claire isn't sure.

Still, she smiles mildly.]

[And she's not answering if she's okay, which means she's not. He's even more concerned now, but sadly not surprised. He nods.]

I am. Tell me where to show up, I'll bring lunch.

[The offer of place is important to him, the willingness to go wherever she feels comfortable, if she has such a place here.]
