My name is Sebastian Vael. I am a Brother in Faith at the Chantry. If you know not know what it is, that is ... fine, for the message I have is not one of the Maker but one of my own ... concern.

I wonder if memories are fluid when we arrive to this world. Can they change and alter as greatly as the tides do? I ask this for there are ... discrepancies between myself and another who is from my world, who I know. I must know if this is a common occurrence... and if it is... what can be done to return my memories to what they should be.

... I will accept that burden, regardless of what it will mean. To live in a lie, though a happy one, is unacceptable and the work of demons, at best.

But... what reason are there for the discrepancies? Are our memories being tampered with?

Apparently it is not our memories. It seems we are snatched from different moments in time, so far as the difference in events go, but I have no reason given yet as far as differences in gender. Or siblings. It seems that Orsino remembers Hawke having a sister as opposed to a brother.

I remember Hawke's sister, as well. I recall not any other sibling but that... if we were taken from just different moments in time... you are correct to question why it is that we remember different Hawkes.

I wish to know the source and to discover the truth of our memories, of ourselves.

I worry, Knight-Commander, that we may not be from different worlds, but the same world. That our memories may simply be altered in some fashion... that those we see as strangers may actually be much closer. I cannot ignore that possibility, either.

For me the Champion has a brother, Carver, who has become a Templar.

I will not ignore the possibility of altered memories, but I will not dwell on that. It will do neither of us any good to do so.

If we begin to question who we are and what we know, we will falter, brought to confusion by our doubts. I know who I am. I know what I stand for. That is what must matter.

And yet that is not enough for me, Knight-Commander. I speak not against your words, but of my own indulgence... I find this to be something that affects us all... and I will look for answers. But thank you, for but a moment, I was reminded of the Grand Cleric. I feel she would say the same to me.

She was the one I spoke with the most often, and her loss will be sorely felt. You may search as you will, but I am satisfied in myself.

I have let myself get carried away and not thought of others' feelings on the matter of memories. I shall still seek out the cause, but I shall do so with a bit more clarity.

It is hardly as if anyone could find such queries offensive. There are worse ways to get carried away, by far.

True enough. Either way, I hope to find some sense of peace when I locate the source.
