My name is Sebastian Vael. I am a Brother in Faith at the Chantry. If you know not know what it is, that is ... fine, for the message I have is not one of the Maker but one of my own ... concern.

I wonder if memories are fluid when we arrive to this world. Can they change and alter as greatly as the tides do? I ask this for there are ... discrepancies between myself and another who is from my world, who I know. I must know if this is a common occurrence... and if it is... what can be done to return my memories to what they should be.

... I will accept that burden, regardless of what it will mean. To live in a lie, though a happy one, is unacceptable and the work of demons, at best.

That hardly answers the reason for it, though, or how to fix the problem. Does it not bother you that this is seemingly fact? To not seek out the reason for the truth of your memories?

But one thing you'll learn about this place is, you'd do good to swallow your philosophical quest so you aren't too distracted to duck when the enemy tries to put a bullet in your head.

This is not about a philosophical quest. What makes our memories are what makes ourselves, our being, our purpose. To merely care about what enemy is about and to duck as you say is fine, but this is something that affects the reality which we base ourselves upon. The decisions we made... did we make them or not. It may seem philosophical but truly, it is finding out what is real and how to return the reality of what we know back if it is false.

If you care not for these things, then I shall seek those that do.

Apparently it is not our memories. It seems we are snatched from different moments in time, so far as the difference in events go, but I have no reason given yet as far as differences in gender. Or siblings. It seems that Orsino remembers Hawke having a sister as opposed to a brother.

I remember Hawke's sister, as well. I recall not any other sibling but that... if we were taken from just different moments in time... you are correct to question why it is that we remember different Hawkes.

I wish to know the source and to discover the truth of our memories, of ourselves.

Big and little things... the state of Chantry, which is a place of my world where the lost and the faithful can come together to be healed and find their own way to serve the Maker. The life of one who watches over those who enter. The gender of my wife.

These things that helped to shape my life and would change it if had occurred.

I had heard that it was destroyed, but... I cannot imagine such a horror taking place. It has not. I would have been there, and since it is no memory of mine, I cannot say that it has happened or will.. yet I know the one who spoke it would not speak it to bring me torment.

The matter of memory is a strange one, not so simply answered. I have heard many theories, from many individuals, but nothing that can be taken as fact.

I had heard that you were here, First Enchanter. And it seems many of us were brought to this strange land... I shudder at the meaning of it all.

Why not? The Maker may have something in mind for each of us, but it seems His are not the only hands capable of moving us.
