Or did Bete Noire get a remodel while I was away? [ Because that's the only other option here really.

Behind her a large dog pops up to nuzzle at her, making her nearly fall and drop the communicator as she tries to shove it off a bit. Just enough so that she doesn't fall before she's reaching out to hug the big ball of fur. ] I'm leaning towards nuclear apocalypse in Bete Noire that somehow The Dog survived right now.

I was really surprised to find The Dog. I opened the pod and he was sitting there, panting at me.

[he sounds a little distracted. four months is a long time when it comes to people like them.]
