[text] Friday, Week 13
Not long after I woke up here, a request was made for someone to study the pods and how they function, in order to determine whether or not it was possible to open them without harming the person inside. I have made significant progress on this project, with assistance from several others. This is an update on that progress. I've decided to share our findings with everyone, because they are relevant to all of us.
What We've Learned:
- By using basic tools, I came to the conclusion that the person inside would be killed if blunt force was used to free them.
- Hooking up a laptop to a pod provided data for statistical modeling.
- The pods give readings that look like energy surges, but are actually a pattern of controlled pulses.
- The biggest energy fluctuation comes just before the pods open.
- The pods operate in response to feedback from of their sensors, but the data they collect can't be accessed from analyzing a pod's mechanisms. We may need to analyze the sensors themselves to get readings on the person inside.
- The overall pod opening procedure involves multiple checkpoints and possibly multiple initial trigger conditions.
- The pods function as a medical facility that can provide serious intensive care, to the point of reviving the dead. I've seen evidence of this. [Otherwise he wouldn't have believed it, himself.]
Current Plans:
- We've collected data from the locking mechanisms, and will hopefully be able to figure out how the pods lock or unlock soon.
- We're figuring out how to detect when the pods are going to open, which will involve someone standing by to take readings. We can also attempt to analyze the data from the sensors at this point.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'll answer them as best I can.
[Locked to Jane, Pepper, Tony, Natasha, and Steve]
[Oh he's so glad he can use text here.] This is only somewhat related, but I thought you should all know that Natasha and I found Agent Coulson's pod. He's not awake yet, but he might be eventually. It's possible that the pod is in the process of reviving him. Of course, it's also possible he could be from a previous point in time. I'm not sure if there's a way to know for certain until the pod opens.
[Text, then Voice]
[There's a moment's pause after the gobbledy-gook text comes through, then voice activates. It's someone Bruce doesn't know, with a deep, gravelly voice that's difficult to assign a gender to]
Forgive me. This typing thing will take... practice.
[Maybe she needs a stylus of some sort. Dinosaur hands aren't as dextrous as human hands, but tools help.]
I would be very interested in seeing this data you've collected. I'm an engineer back home, see, but I haven't touched the pods because I'm not much of a biologist. Wouldn't do to hurt anyone. But perhaps I could be of some assistance?

[Voice]
Ah, but anything helps. If we put our heads together, perhaps we can makes something of it.
[She clears her throat uncomfortably]
But I would... rather avoid the town, for the time being. Is there any way you could come back out to the ship with everything? I could meet you there.
[Darwin hasn't solved the problem of introducing herself to the town without causing panic or getting shot, considering the... unfortunate temperaments of her relatives out here]
[text]
I do hope so. We've made good progess so far, I think. [there's a pause] I'm not actually living in the Old City...my house is just outside it, so it's near the ship. But I do most of my work there anyway.
Re: [text]
I'm not human, you see. This seems to take people by surprise around here. And I'm also rather large - just to give you fair warning. I really would rather not scare anyone.

It's sort of a skill you pick up when you've got vaults full of space junk and nothing better to do than figure out what it all does or how to make any use of it.
...all right, so most of that was actually part of my job.
[text]
Your job sounds fascinating. I taught at Culver University a few years ago, where I researched gamma radiation and anti-electron collisions, among other things.

To be fair, I also spent entirely too much of my time cleaning viruses off of my coworkers' computers, and other such unsavory tasks.

At least they weren't alien viruses. Or were they?
no subject
Most of them weren't, but my boss has some...interesting tastes. [GOD JACK WAY TO DOWNLOAD ALIEN PORN ON TORCHWOOD'S COMPUTERS.]

I can imagine, considering what kind of work you do, that in general your colleagues would be...interesting, as you put it. But so are mine, so I'm hardly one to talk.

And I really wouldn't have gotten so far this quickly without all the help I've gotten. [It's true, but he's also being humble about his own role in the process.]

But none of that matters right now because wait what, Coulson?]
where?

[Action]
[text]
I want to be there when he wakes.
[VIDEO but still locked forever because reasons]
He's trying so hard to stay calm and unaffected, and it isn't working very well.]
I'll let you know first thing. Tony's on his way here now, I think. [it's said as an open invitation, if Steve wants to join them.]
I'm coming right now.
[His voice is quiet and hoarse as if he has suddenly forgotten how to speak. The feed quickly cuts and Steve sprints to his bike, accelerating hard toward the ship.]
[Audio]
[Pepper's voice is wryly affectionate, tinged with a bubble of bright hope.]
I'm pinned down squaring away a rationing problem, but do the power fluctuations look like he might be waking up? I'd like to make sure he's got a place to stay when he does.
[text]
I'm not sure, to be honest. It's difficult to tell right now.
Re: [text]
[Pepper's tone says that this observation should be reassuring. Somehow.]
I'll come by as soon as I'm clear, then. I'd... like to see him. Even if he's just in stasis.
[text]
I'll be here whenever you decide to come by.
