jimkirk: (Just call me "Captain")

[video] THURSDAY EVENING

[ Jim manages to look none the worse for wear, though if you knew him well, you'd be able to tell he's tired. That smile is totally fake - like, faker than usual - and his laid back attitude has some strain underneath the surface. ]

You know, it would be just my luck to volunteer to lead an expedition on a backwater planet with dinosaurs running around. And poisonous snakes, too. We gotta get like a bestiary going or something. Christ.

Well, anyway, looks like we're all back in one piece, though some of us required bandages and whatnot to get here.

Mission accomplished, right? And no casualties, which I think we can count as the most important parts.

Miss...Potts, right? You want a report, I got it.

[Pepper, unusually for these broadcasts, has her apartment as her backdrop rather than the controlled bustle of the hospital. She looks to have just returned from there, however, as she's shed only the jacket of the business suit she's still insisting on wearing when working. Her expression is friendly but alert, eyes narrowed slightly as she studies Jim.]

May I be the first offer congratulations then, Captain. I have some sympathy for ending up at the head of a procession just after leaving the ship... and I definitely want that report. Did you secure the, um, package?

And it's just really hit me that spoken word code sounds pretty ridiculous outside of spy movies.

Well, if you'd prefer I can go find someone else in your party to congratulate... [Pepper dimples teasingly at this.]

But I'll let the traders know immediately. You and the others have just saved a lot of lives.

You've actually seen them? The dinosaurs, that is. I met one who talks, but she's not native to this planet.

If you need more in the way of bandages, I'm sure we can spare some at the hospital.

I did. Her name is Darwin, believe it or not.

You're welcome. Dr. Bruce Banner, by the way, I don't think we've met before.

Darwin the dinosaur. She was given the name, apparently. I'm sure she'll be happy to tell you about it herself.

It's a pleasure to meet you as well...I've met Commander Spock and Dr. McCoy already. Commander Spock has helped me analyze the pod system on the ship and I work with Dr. McCoy at the hospital.

The first one I met was Commander Spock; he told me he was looking for a "James Tiberius Kirk and Leonard H. McCoy", but I was unable to help him.

I met Dr. McCoy more recently, at the hospital. He's been rather busy, considering how many people are getting sick, so I haven't had the chance to talk to him much aside from offering my assistance.

He does, but not nearly enough.

And I'm actually more the nuclear physics kind of doctor, with a side of biochemistry. I have some field experience as a physician, though. Not anything on his level, but enough to be useful.
