Ah! These now work as well. Excellent.

Welcome to your new home away from home. I am the first and last person you'll ever need to know. You'll notice we don't have much in the way of material goods but you are in luck. I am the resident trader of the Old City.

[How long had Wing been here? He had a horrible thought, when he left the ship to see the sand and craggy stones: that this was his planet. Which meant his City might be out there. Under there.

Never worked before now. They flickered on when that ship did.

My guess is they came from the same people who made that thing. Kind of handy to have working now. We were using pidgeons before this.

The Old City? A trader? So you'd know what people have here, right? Do you have geological surveys? Information on local minerals?

Far as I know this thing can do voice, text and video. Wouldn't be surprised if this thing can transmit smell too. We're not gonna check to see if it does.

Most of the metals have been stripped from the mountains. Wouldn't know what they got left around here. That's the kind of thing Nem keeps in the Vault.

Video...? What's 'video'? This thing doubles as a telegraph, too?

And what's the Vault? Someplace you store all your metals?

Old City implies there's a newer one.

You'd be right on that. The new one would be the one sitting all pristine under the dome.

Where we're now used to be part of that one but they couldn't take extend the dome over the whole thing. So, we got left out in the cold.

That's not very sporting of them. I take it there's rules about who gets in and who doesn't?

[Starbuck hobbles in on one crutch (which she's been told she'll have to return to the hospital). She's kinda pissed about it, but she's been ordered to rest her knee as much as poss to let it heal. Which means that lugging her harness with oxygen tank and helmet attached has been tough going. But she's perservered and is now dumping it on the counter.]

What can I get for this? It's got at least 48 hours of oxygen left in it.

[He tries not to look too happy about what she had to trade. He can so use that! ]

Depends on what you want. Basic new to the planet package? [That includes a comm device, some clothes, a few weeks of food and a weapon.]
