[The video is turned on but, should you be someone who does not believe in Jack Frost, the video shows nothing except the scenery. The camera doesn't really seem to move. Unless, of course, one knows and believes in the entity holding the camera!

However, should you be a believer in Jack Frost, you will see a boy about eighteen with a very pale face, bright blue eyes, and white hair. He's crouched somewhere, staring intently into the phone with such a desperately hopeful look on his face. After about a minute of nothing (or staring), text finally appears.]

Can anyone see me? I've been here for a few hours now, please tell me someone can see!

[There's another pause.]

Fine. Can anyone at least answer this? I'm looking for a couple people and they're pretty hard to miss. There's North, though you guys would may know his as ol' St. Nick, aka Santa. There's Tooth, definitely can't miss her. She's got feathers all over with fairy wings, aka the Tooth Fairy. Sandman is a little guy, but he generally floats around on a sand cloud and then there's the Easter Bunny. Over six feet tall, carries some boomerangs and egg bombs, complete with an Australian accent. If you've seen them or if any of you guys are reading this, let me know!

[Briar's peering at his scrying-mirror communicator, an annoyed expression on his face. Why isn't it showing anybody? He starts to grumble to himself as he picks it up and eyeballs it]

With the what? And I ain't heard of anybody called Jack Frost. Who's that? Is that you? Were you were one sending through random pictures?

Uh, the thing in your hand buddy. It's a phone. I think it is, anyway. Acts like a cell phone from home, anyway.

That would be me, Jack Frost. What random pictures are you talking about though?

No, it's a scrying mirror. But mine's different from everyone else's, apparently. [Briar shrugs]

You know, of those trees. Not that they weren't nice trees, but aren't people supposed to use these things to talk to people rather than just show random things?

Oh, well, that's because you can't see me. If you could see me, then you wouldn't be seeing the trees.

You're using an invisibility spell? [Despite himself, Briar looks a bit curious. But then he remembers himself and scowls.] You bleater, what are you doing trying to send pictures of yourself while you're invisible?

No, do you think I want to be invisible? I'm not sending anything! I just... I just needed to know if anyone out there could see me.

[Briar's eyebrows furrow together in confusion]

You don't want to be invisible? Then why are you? Did someone else cast an invisibility spell on you? And why would some people be able to see you anyway? Maybe I'd be able to see the magic on you if I was looking at you for real, but I can't see magic through these things.

Trust me, being invisible is not all it's cracked up to be. And, yeah, I guess you could say someone, uh, 'cast' it on me. Basically, I'm a Guardian of Childhood. The Man in the Moon made me one, but the catch is that you must be believed in in order to be seen.

You with me here? Just because you're talking to me doesn't mean you believe in me. Sort of like... I dunno, believing in a god or something, I guess.

What?! No! Please, I'm far from a god and I'd rather not be one, thanks.

I'm actually a spirit, I make Winter happen.

[Briar looks rather relieved at that. He'd already met enough people who were utterly strange here, having gods just showing up to chat would be terrifying]

Are you like an elemental, then? [Evvy had talked to him about the volcano spirits she'd encountered. Maybe this Jack Frost was like them?] I don't get why all this beleving stuff means you can't be seen though. Why wouldn't I believe in you? You're obviously talking to me. I might as well just not believe in rocks, or trees.

Uh... sure?[Weren't those usually like. The ones who could control the elements though? As in, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and all that jazz? Jack wasn't sure. Not many spirits liked him either, so.]Because you simply believe you're talking to someone named Jack Frost. You believe you're talking to a person, not the spirit of winter who brings the snow in every year and makes kids happy.

Trust me, it's... pretty complicating. I've had 300 years of dealing with this. Belief is a big deal when comes to people like me.

[Briar scratches his head] That sounds pretty confusing.

...And what does snow have to do with kids being happy?

[Briar gives Jack - well, his communicator - an odd look]

Yes, funnily enough I have heard that on some days, snow is a thing that happens.

...Yeah, I'll take that as a no.

Well then you do feel like explaining, or do you just like being all vague for fun?

Probably as fun as being invisible. A snow day is basically when it snows hard enough that the kids can't go to school, adults can't go to work (or they try to), so everyone basically gets a day off and have fun.

Why would all the kids be in schools? [Briar frowns] And why would not being able to get to work be fun? If people can't make money, they can't eat. That's not fun.

I do it for the kids mostly. The adults manage to find ways around it most of the time, so I think the ones that stay home are the ones that can afford it.

[Briar looks a bit dubious about that, but he'll roll with it.] What's the point though? Hardly any kids are in schools.

Maybe where you're from. But on Earth, practically every kid is in school.
