[Video] Week 40 - Thursday Evening

[The video flickers on, water blurring the feed a little.]

Gods below... [A mutter and then Atticus is flopping over on his side to look down on the camera. He's shirtless, laying in the grass in the woods somewhere getting rained on but grinning so wide he must not care. Anyone that knows him will note that he's got his tattoos pressed firmly to the earth beneath him which accounts for the relief in his voice.]

So... uh... [And it takes him a moment to decide what's safe to talk about on the video. He's a little addled after more than a week in Nowhere.] How much trouble has my hound been causing?

[A smirk. Yeah he was going to sprawl out in the grass anyway but there's another reason he's on the ground.] Missed you too, Akito.

Atticus?!

[Oh look, a hound is barking in the background now. The video shuffles a bit as Genesis is quickly trying to get some shoes on before Oberon breaks down the door and simply curses and shuts the video off.]

[Saying Fuck It and going barefoot, Oberon and Genesis are racing out of the house. She doesn't know where he is but she's got a wing and she's going to use it. Oberon sniffs out Atticus while Genesis follows and, eventually, he is found.

She practically smacks into the ground as she lands, a rough landing but she's hand worse and she's glomping him while on the ground]

Atticus, where the hell were you?!

[Have a punch in the arm! B|]

[By the time Genesis and Oberon find him he's recharged enough that he feels safe sitting up, though he keeps the tattoo on his foot and up his leg in contact with the earth. Sitting up doesn't last terribly long though because then he has a redhead flinging him to the ground and a hound licking at his face (and Gen's hair by proximity).

He laughs at the enthusiastic greeting, one arm going around her to squeeze her lightly in a hug while the other is trying to push Oberon off of him. Only to end up getting punched in the arm and he actually winces a little. Okay that hurt.]

Ow! hey! What was tha- [Well, no he deserved that. Still... she hit hard. He rubbed his arm while Oberon sat beside her and gave him an equally indignant bark before echoing her question in his head.]

Well... uh... that patchwork not-really-anywhere city? Apparently if you try to shift planes... that's where you end up.

How long was I gone? Monte's a little... vague on the timescale.

[Be lucky she didn't break your arm, Atticus. She was holding back! But she got off of him and sat off to the side, fixing her hair from the dog slobber and tying it off to the side for now.

But she was glad Atticus was alive and the hug felt great. She missed hugs. ;;]

Eight days, Atticus. [She rubbed Oberon's back.] Why would you try shifting planes on a Planet you're not from?

Eight days... [He sighed, shoving a hand through his damp hair.] Felt like a month.

[The latter part of that was the real question and he'd had more than enough time to consider it fully. It had been stupid and desperate. He hated leaving Granuaile not just because it was Granuaile but because it meant there was no longer a Druid to protect Gaia. And it meant he had failed as a teacher once again, leaving her to deal with the fallout from his actions without her.

Had he made the wrong decision in faking his death? In faking hers? If not for his need to cover his own ass she could have gone to Brighid or Flidais and perhaps they would have recognized the need to train more Druids finally without Aenghus Og to poison their thoughts against it. That opportunity was lost to her now though.... because of him.]

Planets don't necessarily affect planes... I left some thing unfinished, left a lot of people in harms way because of me. I just... had to at least try.

[ and approximately five minutes later, Atticus has an anxious wind spirit flitting around him for a fraction of a second before lunging at him in a hug, because he knows where the druid must have been.

...And Akito is fairly certain that hugs aren't supposed to hurt quite so much, but it's bearable, at the very least, and he's glad enough for Atticus' seemingly safe return that being able to give him a hug is worth the pain. ]

ACTION!

[frostedoverland]

[Jack isn't quite so... flighty, when comes to meeting up with Atticus. But once Genesis is done punching him, he suddenly has a wind spirit to worry about because didn't Atticus tell them they can't touch him?]

Akito, wait-!

[Too late. He's quick, at least, to grab the kid by his waist and pull him off, as careful as he can be when near the older man. His hands are tinged a little red, but nothing major.]

[There's some small consolation in the fact that he isn't the only one getting plastered to the ground. Akito leaps on him and before he can even think to tell the spirit not to Jack is there hauling him off.

And Oberon is there, completely misreading the situation and, with an excited bark that the spirits will understand as "Dogpile!!" There is a hound launching himself at them too.

It would be hilarious if it weren't such a mess. But both the boys are still alive. No one has turned to ash, thank the gods.]

Oberon, no! Get off. [A sheepish glance at Gen and then he's moving as close as he dares to them.]

Are you two okay?

[ Akito lets out a squeak of surprise when Jack grabs him - and he knows it's Jack, not just because he hears him just before he's touched, but because the touch is cold, in that cool, refreshing way he's come to associate with the winter spirit. He can feel his cheeks go pink, but at Atticus' question he's quick to worry. ]

..Jack! Are you okay?

[ He can handle a few minor burns (or not-so-minor, as he reluctantly admits to himself), but he isn't sure how well Jack can deal with them - does being a spirit of ice and snow make you more or less resilient to burns? ]

[Jack let's go of Akito once they're a safe few inches away from the Iron Druid and quickly hides his hands in the sleeves of his sweater.]

Yeah, I'm fine, no worries.

[It makes you less resilient, that's what. Lukewarm water felt like a spa to him.]

How about you? You're already starting to blister.

Geez, didn't even notice I was gone, Christine? I'm hurt. [And he gestures dramatically to prove it, hand going to his heart as though her words would pierce him. Sorry, Christine, he's been in nowhere for a week, he's kind of really excited for social interaction again.]

[Oops? She's just been busy and letting them have time apart since the "incident." But she feels much better concerning that now.]

You take off a lot, don't you?

[He should probably be glad she's even talking to him after that fiasco, really.]

{Yeah, he does kinda disappear quite a bit doesn't he? Druids are busy guys.]

So what happens that keeps you away?

[action] 20 minutes/half hour later

[For those that can hear or sense it there's the sound of something rather large coming closer, it's roughly the size of a deer and moving towards them. There's possibly a few glimpses of antlers or movement through the trees for those paying attention before it seems to disappear.

While he's pretty quiet, Koz isn't trying to sneak up on them. He does have his sword though... and a somewhat magnificent set of antlers as he emerges properly in to where they've all gathered.]

Well, this certainly wasn't what I expected. Mind you that's what happens when you listen to mice.

[Genesis first notices the approach of something, her hearing catching the soft sounds beyond the rain. She straightens up and even looks for her materia, cursing softly as she realizes everything is back at the house. But soon, enough, she sees the large deer and it... speaks? Oh, wait, she recognizes the voice!]

Koz?

[Jack, on the other hand, doesn't react much as he figured out who it was. Who else lived in the forest and could change into animals?]

Which is why you should probably use your own ears and eyes, rather than listening to what everyone else says.

Akito what!?

[He didn't have time to question it more because the spirit was wrestling... in the mud... with his hound. There was a brief thought that he needed to have his wounds cleaned and dressed not be rolling around in the dirt but spiris were notoriously resilient beings, even if cold iron tended to be the one exception to that rule. He was laughing hard when they finally ended up with another visitor and he rolled quickly to his feet.

He didn't think about it, instinctively he activated both his night vision and faerie specs, immediately looking for the threat. Paranoid? Maybe.

What he got was... not a threat judging by Gen and Jack's response but all he could do was tilt his head and openly gawk for a moment, even as he squinted against the bright glare of power.]

What... the...

[ Akito is distracted by his play fighting with Oberon - enough so that he doesn't realize Koz is there until he's there and speaking and Akito immediately stops, then flits away into the air so that he can effectively hide behind Atticus. ]

Miss... Rhapdos was it?

[He smiles a little to her, nodding his head in greeting.]

Sadly Jack, I'm not omniscient I actually have to use communication networks to learn things about what's going on.

[His tone is light, though there's a flatness to it. He gives Atticus an amused look though.]

I'm a bit taller than the communicator makes me look, and yes; they're real.

[He's talking about his antlers and kind of vaguely entertained that Akito is hiding from him.]

[Have a worried-looking librarian peering at the screen.]

Atticus? Where have you been? Are you all right?

[He's actually quite touched she's worried, considering.]

I uh... took a little unplanned detour. I'm good, though. Er...

I'm guessing you are one of the people my hound has likely been harassing in my absence? [Genesis, Belle, Akito and Christine were the most likely candidates, after all.]

[And she didn't mind the harassment. Company is company.]

[Cue guilt ferrets. Wow, Belle you're good at making him feel miserable. Are you sure you haven't been picking things up from Jiminy?]

He's never going to let me out of his sight now.
