[Video] Sunday morning

[If anyone was wondering where one werewolf happened to be, well, here he is, looking a bit embarrassed. He's obviously made his way out of the ship, and back to his own apartment in the Old City, given the background isn't the ship, but a dimly lit and sparsely decorated living room.]

This is Randolph Lyall. I thought I should probably let everyone know I've returned, now. It doesn't look like I was out of commission for very long, at least, though if anything major has changed, or anything minor that I ought to know about, do please let me know.

I will say, the experience of waking up in that ship again was... disconcerting. I appear to be as I was, however, minus a week or two of pay. Though apparently my motorbike has vanished. Wes, if you find this message, if you would be so kind as to let me know if it's at that apartment. I'll come fetch it, if so.

[Which will be a pain if it is, but more of a pain if it's disappeared entirely, which is what he's afraid happened.]

Otherwise, well. I suppose I shall see you all in person again come the weekend.

[ Not gonna lie, though, she is secretly thrilled to see a familiar face. ]

[Lyall blinks at her, obviously taken aback. It takes a bit to really surprise him, but you've done it, Shep.]

... Commander Shepard? Is that--

[Of course it is, don't be inane. He corrects himself with a pertinent question:]

How long have you been back?

[And why does she still have that collar on? That's gonna be troublesome, he's sure of it.]

[ 'Going to be' troublesome? She can't get her goddamn armor on, and within five minutes of waking up here, there was an armed stand-off. I'd say 'troublesome' has come and gone by now.

She appreciates his idiotic question being amended to a more useful one, and she answers in kind. ]

A week.

[ A week, and she's already damn near overwhelmed by how much is different. It's almost worse than the first time around, in that sense. At least that time, she wasn't living with a constant sense of 'this isn't right'. ]

[Forgive him, Shep, he's still a little off-kilter, himself. He'll be more intelligent going forward, he promises.]

Almost as long as I've been away, it seems, then. We must have only just passed each other. Have you found a place to stay? I assume your abode from before has not entirely changed over. I know mine did not, though it turned out that I had another one waiting for me, in its stead.

[ She shakes her head. ]

It was in the Old City. [ And hell if she'll be falling asleep in the OA's apparent new capitol. No, that just isn't happening. ]

I'm headed down along the water.

When I'm in town next, perhaps I come calling. It's been quite a while. I'm sure someone has already gotten you the details of everything that's changed--

[Like Kaidan, probably.]

--but it would still be pleasant to renew our acquaintance.

Just let me know when and where.

[ Because they may not have been incredibly close before, but he's one of the few who remembers that she was here before, so he's someone she definitely wants to keep around. ]

[He can understand that, honestly. He's lost people here before, after all, and having one return is a pleasant turnabout.]

I'll be back in Poseidon Friday, provided I still have an occupation to return to after this unannounced leave of absence. Will that suffice?

[ And with that, she's hanging up for now. ]

I haven't heard from you in awhile, Professor. Here I thought you'd just been busy.

[He's not sure whether to be chagrined or amused that it was so easy to simply... not notice he was gone.]

Ah, no, I'm afraid I wound up back on the ship. It looks like it was only for a week and a handful of days.

[Please don't be chagrined, Professor. It was a busy time with the fog and storm.]

I wish we knew what caused that. A couple others have gone back in recently and those are only the ones I know of. If you slipped past my notice, there might be more.

[It still makes him think that he's been too out of touch with the people from the ship, though.]

Perhaps there should be some kind of accounting of people still about.

[Hey, it'd help Lyall, too. He's not sure if anyone vanished while he was out, either.]

There's an idea.

Now how to organize it.

[He looks thoughtful.]

I suppose we could do it here, though if I recall there was some concern over the security of these devices before I vanished?

Right. When in doubt, it's best to meet in person. But I'm sure those who don't like to use these things are in contact with at least one person from the Ship who are, so you could account for the missing through their friends.

An idea. I'm not sure if I'm the best sort to be organizing a thing like that, really, but if I can't find anyone else, someone still ought to do it.

[He's still obviously considering it, albeit a little dubiously. He's not a spotlight kind of fellow, after all.]

Why not? Aren't you a people person? Besides, it's really just a headcount, isn't it? You don't have to hold a long conversation with each of us.

[He gives her a ssmall smile.]

I am, after a fashion, good with people. But I am not generally a leader, I'm not the one people see, I'm the one who handles the things in the background. Being out in front is decidedly uncomfortable.

I suppose if I can't find someone else to handle it, I might as well, though.

You'll do great. I'm sure of it.

[She smiles, trying to bolster his nerve.]

And I'm one person you can mark off the list.

[He chuckles a bit. She's sweet, anyway. His nerves are less the problem than what he feels is his general calling in unlike. But still, she's sweet.]

Indeed. I'll see about a general headcount when I get back into town this weekend, then.

Okay. Sounds good, Professor.

It's here. And no, I don't know how it got here.

[Sometimes you just stop asking questions]

It's entirely possible I left it there, myself. I don't exactly recall how I got on the ship to begin with, so it could have been.

Thank you for checking. I was a little afraid I'd lost it, or had it stolen, or lent it to someone without recalling it.

Maybe I was out when you dropped it off. This place doesn't seem quite as inclined to reset itself as Mayfield did.

I haven't found it inclined to reset itself, at all, actually. Aside from that one instance of time travel, anyhow. It's probably just there because I left it there.

Did I miss anything of import around the apartment?

[Just him and his girlfriend, most likely. He probably enjoyed the time to themselves.]

Not much. There was another fog episode, and the power was out for a while. No alterations in the nature of reality.

Oh good. That would have been a bit disconcerting to return to, after all.

[Said wryly and with some amusement.]

I suppose I'll see you in a week, then, and collect my motorbike then.
