[Lyall's showing his face again, this morning, before he heads off back to the Old City for the work-week. The background is the common room of the Flop, just inside. He clears his throat, almost as if he isn't entirely sure how to begin, but he manages well enough.]

I was thinking that some of us have lost track of our numbers. We keep appearing and disappearing, returning to pods or vanishing off on adventures. I was hoping that perhaps we could get a headcount.

[He holds up a clipboard.]

Or rather, I could, and I'd share it with the network as a whole, since I'm doing the work as it is. In a more electronic form, I assure you, this--

[He taps the clipboard, then sets it down again.]

--is just for myself. I am a bit old-fashioned still, I fear. If everyone still about could check in, I would appreciate it. I'm in the lobby of the Flop, if anyone would prefer to come calling rather than speak here. I'll be here until sundown, though I may be back after a day or two, as well.

Things were much less organized and modern, in the last incarnation of this place.

[He doesn't seem particularly surprised at the year.]

I dare say you'll fit in better than I have. There are several people here from even further in my version of Earth's future. How long have you been with us?

I hope so. And I've only been here a week or so. I don't keep track of the time here.

I assume you have not found employment yet, then. What is it that you do, in your own universe and time, Mr. Capa?

Just Capa is fine. And I'm an astrophysicist. [Then he remembers the time period.]

I study the way that the universe works.

[Lyall offers a smile.]

I've been on Verdana long enough to have picked up a few things. I know what an astrophysicist is. But that's kind of you to explain. You may be of some use on the ship, helping to make it functional again, but I'm sure there's some kind of employment here you could find. We aren't likely to be leaving in the near future.

[Capa actually looks relieved.] Kaidan offered the same thing. Helping with the ship. So that's what I've been trying to do, but I haven't done much hands on work. The technology is different.

It does take some adjustment, yes. I believe it to be different from where Major Alenko and Mister Stark are from, as well. To be honest, I don't believe any of us are familiar with it.

I think if we were, there might be a different problem to worry about, honestly.

It might be an easier one, however. Still, it does not seem entirely impossible to learn about it. There have been strides made already-- there had been a point where we were concerned whether the ship's power would hold out to support those still sleeping on it.

Shit. I'm glad that it has. For my sake and the others. But we can always learn more. And that's what I'm trying to help with.

Good, I'm glad to hear it. Are you still living at the Flop, or have you found a place of your own yet?

The Flop. It's roomier than my previous accommodations, so I don't mind it.

And where were you before, if you that isn't too forward?

[Compared to his home in London the new Flop isn't bad, though the old Flop was severely lacking... compared to his apartment, he's much happier in the apartment.]

In space. I didn't spend a lot of time in my bed, though. Just like I don't here, either.

Too busy, is it?

[He nods understandingly.]

I will admit, I am not quite as pressed for time, here and now, but there have been times when I have gone a few days running in order to keep on top of things.

Even if I wasn't busy, I like to keep busy.
