[Video: Thursday, Week 48] The most frightening of things

[There are few things more dangerous than a bored twelve year old. Unfortunately, that's what Verdana has right now.]

Okay, this is getting bad. So I'm just gonna ask.

Does anyone have a lot of heavy stuff they need moved around? I am seriously that bored.

Or bad guys to beat up. If you need bad guys beaten up Princess Powerful is all over that! Bad guys would be way better.

[There's a noticeable shift in Molly's demeanor as soon as she recognizes Thor. From bored to... decidedly unhappy]

You sure you aren't just really bad at paying attention to bad guys who aren't in New York?

[Thor looks puzzled. That is not the kind of reception he'd been expecting.]

Nay... I have only been to New York once, though the enemies there were fairly obvious, at the time.

Uh, last time I checked New York was kinda what the Avengers did.

[It sure wasn't LA]

I have only fought with the others on the Avengers initiative once, though that was in New York, yes.

[This is getting personal, isn't it? Confused and a bit dismayed, and all of that showing clearly on his face, Thor asks,]

Have we met, my lady?

No. We asked the Avengers for help, but only Captain America bothered to show up. After it was over. All he did was dump us in foster care!

[Okay, now he's definitely confused.]

Young lady, I-- apologize for however I, or another version of me, may have wronged you? But I have never even heard of this... foster care, nor of your plight. I would like to think I would strike down injustice wherever it is, even if it is in-- Los Angeles, you say?

[He says is awkwardly, as if he's never said it before in his long life. Point of fact: he hasn't.]

[Molly throws her hands up in frustration. Which... sends the picture crazy for a a while in there]

Seriously? How many universes with kinda the same people are there?

[Kurt hadn't heard of the Avengers. Thor's heard of the Avengers. This is getting ridiculous.]

[Thor looks a little more understanding, at that, once the image settles again and she can actually see him.]

There seem to be quite a few. I am from one, my companions from Midgard appear to be from another, Jane from one different from those, and my brother is from one even more removed. He is still just a boy.

It's starting to get really annoying. Does yours have X-Men?

Ah.

[From his blank look, probably not.]

If it does, I am unaware of it. I have only been to your world twice, and both times only for the span of a few days. I am sorry.

So you're saying we might have one with X-Men and no Avengers and one with Avengers and no X-Men.

That's just weird.

Aye, it is very strange. My brother and I have been grappling with the very same oddness, though I believe we are settled now, at least.

[More pertinently, though.... Thor inclines himself a little in a hopeful, respectful bow for the camera.]

Will you perhaps accept my humble apologies for what my other self did not accomplish for you? I would like to believe that were I in his stead, I would have rendered any aid you wished.

For what it's worth, he wasn't the only one who didn't help.

[His honor and her good opinion are at stake here!]

In the future, should you call for aid, I swear to you I shall be there to supply it to the best of my ability.

I'm pretty good at taking care of myself.

Perhaps that is so, if you are looking for enemies to defeat, but the offer still stands.

[Thor knows better than to underestimate kids, after all. He was a pretty tough teenager, himself.]

We learned a lot, 'cause you guys didn't show up.

I imagine you did. What was it that happened?

[No way was she going into all the details]

There were... bad guys.

[Her parents, all their parents. She doesn't want to say it, but she can't hide that there's something really upsetting about these bad guys]

We tried to call the police, they just laughed. We tried calling the Avengers, but... we were way out in LA. No bad guys in LA. No one would believe us.

We took care of it. Ourselves.

[Thor could chalk it up to prepubescent kids fighting said bad guys all alone. And he might. Though he does feel very bad for her, now, and tries to offer praise, at least, for a job he presumes is well done.]

I am sure you did admirably, and saved many people in the process.

Yeah, we took care of it. We're still taking care of the cleanup.

[She shrugs]

Someone has to.

Indeed. I am impressed that you are taking part in the aftermath, as well.

[Especially since, uh, Thor pretty much never does. Which he realizes pretty much right then and suddenly feels badly for. But princes rarely had to worry about aftermath, in general, so it's kind of a new thing for him.]
