First Dream [Video, Open]

[Who believes in dream spirits? To anyone who does, the video screen flicks on to a smiling face framed by wild golden hair. Sandy squints at the screen for a moment, then perks up and waves once he realizes the camera's on. Everyone else? Just sees Poseidon from the top of what appears to be one of the taller buildings.]

[Unfortunately, Sandy doesn't have any practice communicating by text. The little pictures aren't very helpful to anyone who doesn't already know him, but they certainly aren't like anything else on the network, either.]

[The little man grins and bows again, more elaborately this time. Yes, exactly! He hops up on a cloud of dreamsand, riding on it effortlessly.]

??? D: *circle with a slash through it* ! *flower* *butterfly* *dolphin* *shooting star* ???

[It's... really hard to explain the whole dream powers things through pictionary, it turns out.]

You're a bit like Jack - you both have powers to shape and to make things. Have you met him yet? Jack Frost?

What, it's not a joke? Then what the hell is it?

[She's back to English now, of course, since she assumes this is someone on the network.]

[He sniffs at that look.]

Merely verifying. So you also know Jack Frost, I take it. From the same world, are we?

[Very interesting, indeed.]

[Sandy laughs silently, and it takes a moment before he gathers himself up enough to explain. Snowflakes first, then a little figure with Jack's hoodie. Then a little Sandy figure. Then they hug each other. He lets the figures dissolve back into his cloud with a flourish. Yeah, he and Jack? Good friends.]

[Sandy shrugs sheepishly, then listens with a sober expression. At the confession, he places a hand on his chest and looks relieved. So it's not just him!]

[Sandy's still happy to talk to him, but this guy's attitude is dampening his enthusiasm a little. Something about it is rubbing him the wrong way. He nods again, confirming that they're from the same universe.]

[Sandy pokes at his communicator, making the scenery - that's all that Haruka can see - jiggle. There had to be some way to make this more efficient. He finally finds something that might work.]

*Cloud* *hourglass* ZZZZZZZZZZ

[He's found the alphanumeric keypad on his communicator. Unfortunately, he's not using it to the best of its ability.]

So that would be a 'yes', then.

I should have realized. It seems all of you that have come here so far already know each other. I'm glad. It means you're in good company.

[Though she's a little jealous. She doesn't have nearly as many allies from her own land to choose from.]

[Sorry, Sandy. Rumple's just not a very nice person in general. This is polite, for him.]

Then perhaps he can do some translating for you, at some point, if you have something more specific to say. Though there may also be alphanumeric keys on your communicator, if you are capable of writing.

Oh, I'm boring? Well, a-ri-ga-to.

[Annoyed, she hangs up. ... sorry, that was a short conversation. Haruka has no patience for things she sees as mocking, unfortunately.]

[Sandy nodded in agreement, poking at his communicator.]

ASFAF:KJ2415 ?

[Sandy nods definitively, still grinning. Then he tilts his head and spreads his hands apart. All? He only knew Jack was here.]

I can try to answer questions you have, if you want me to.

[Sandy spreads his hands wide. Where to even begin? But then he smiled and bobbed in a little bow, thanking the boy for the kind offer. Jack seemed to have been quite fond of him, so naturally the Sandman would hold Akito in the same regard. He trusted his friend's judgement.

You're welcome! [ though he says it in a tone that indicates he's not exactly confident in his interpretation. ] If you think of anything let me know, ne?

[You get a thumbs up, Akito! Once Sandy finds a way to actually ask all of the questions whirling around in his skull, he'll certainly ask the boy, first.]

[Rumple can't help it. He snickers.]

Something like that. I see there will be a learning curve here.

[Sandy huffs and crosses his arms, turning away in apparent offense.]

[That only earns him a slightly more good-natured chuckle. Only slightly.]

You'll get there eventually, I'm sure.

There's a wind spirit named Akito. And we did have a Fairy for a little while; the one that gathers children's teeth.

[He sniffs and waves Rumple off. Whoops. Huffy Sandman alert. Don't worry, next time they talk he'll probably have forgotten all about it.]

[Sandy holds out a hand, ticking off a finger and nodding as she mentions Akito - he knows the kid. Oh, he's a wind spirit? Well. That makes sense.]

[At the mention of Tooth, his face lights up and he conjures a reasonable sculpture of her face from his sand. He points to it and looks back at Mulan expectantly.]

[Sensing he's done being communicated with, and okay with that today, Rumple ends with a slightly mocking:]

Good luck.

[Then he disconnects. Sorry, Sandy. You got the resident jerk.]
