[That's just a little disconcerting, to wake up in a pod, and memories, hazy at first, then firming, of another awakening, and time passing before she is swallowed by darkness. Jane sits up, and hurries out of the pod, clothes just slightly rumpled, her notebook and the device firmly in hand. She steps out of the ship, before turning to her device, and flips it on.]

Question. Hi. It's Jane Foster, and I think I've returned. So back to the question, how long have I been gone and is Pepper still here?

[Pepper ought to beam more. Jane smiles back.] That's not usual? For people to not remember? Well, I'll suppose I'll have to submit to Team Science.

[now she blinks]

And who-you mean Thor? He's here?

[The dimples are out in full force in Pepper's smile now, and she nods confirmation.]

Fell out of the sky near a ship that some of us were on an exploratory mission aboard. Apparently the Bifrost mis-delivered him to here, so he went on the expedition with them, and now he's back in the Old City with them. I got him a communicator, so if he doesn't catch this message you can raise him... or surprise him.

Thor does love to fall out of the sky. First time he did that, Darcy thought he was drunk and tasered him.

[she will not mention the grazing him with the van incident, either.]

Now I'm not sure whether we should invite your Darcy to one of Tony's parties when we all get back, or make sure they never meet.

[The beaming may have passed, but there's a lingering lightness to Pepper that says that, even just little bit, some of the spooled tension of life on Verdana has eased.]

Thor's patching up a place. He's got a somewhat, um, complicated roommate I'll let him tell you about. The second bedroom at my apartment is still free, although there's a couple of Tony's projects in it. So, no need for the Flop unless you want it. They're forecasting one of the chemical fogs again, and I was planning to gather people at the apartment for it anyway, if you want to join.

I don't think I remember a chemical fog happening the last time I was here. And we should invite Darcy to Tony's parties. She'll make sure he behaves. [Jane laughs, then continues.]

I'm meeting Thor in front of your building, Pepper, so heads up? Thor's rather enthusiastic.

Enthusiastic.

[Pepper's echo comes with the sort of tone that means a 'that's what she said' is entirely unnecessary. Her smile takes on a tinge of unholy amusement... but only a tinge. This, she gets.]

Well, just don't break any furniture, and try not to scare the cat.

I am not sure what kind of woman you think I am, Miss Potts, to imply I would scare the cat. I can't say the same about the furniture, but I think Thor would be able to fix that issue. [she's mock-indignant, but the effect is ruined when she giggles]

Don't be coy with me, Dr. Foster. I know what happens at reunions like these.

[Pepper's counter-tease is all the more amused.]

Which is why I won't be home for about, oh... three hours. Spare key's over the door.

Will we have to do the sock thing? Since you have Tony and I have Thor?

I think that only applies in situations without separate bedroom doors. I was fortunate in my college roommates and that never came up, though, so I bow to your knowledge of the subject.

But we do have separate bedroom doors, so I think we'll all survive. Separate doors, and the place also has hot running water now. Potentially stray archers using the shower, but they seem to be a friendly folk."

All I ask if the kitchen is inspiring, to be sure to clean up afterwards. And oh, good. Hot water is always a benefit.

Clint. He's with SHIELD -- Agent Barton?

[Pepper offers the full name with a bit of hesitance, the slow delivery of someone hoping the other half of the conversation will make the connection.]

[if Jane could puff up like a cat, she would. Even though she has agreed to share resources with them, they still needed to earn her respect. She's nto fond of intellectual theft.]

I'm familiar with the group. Would an Agent Coulson ring any bells, Pepper?

[oh so neutral]

[Pepper's expression grows introspective at that, and although she's noticed Jane's sudden arched back and metaphorical hissing, her own voice is quiet and a little sad.]

Phil... pretty much saved my life, when he was Agent Coulson. He became Phil later, when we bonded over handling Tony.

Ah. I didn't have that experience. I met him when he was stealing every bit of my research including my equipment. He and his agents were kind enough to leave me my van and the furniture. [Jane settles down, but she's still a little peeved] Thor helped me get it all back, and they're helping me now, or was before I showed up here.

I... can see how that would make for a different sort of relationship. I'm glad you got things sorted out. I mean, I respect and like Phil a lot, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with everything SHIELD does or stands for.

Well, they do have their uses now, but they could use some nicer tactics. Not everyone is out to get them.

It's a security thing, I think. Anyone whose field revolves around dealing with large quantities of people out to get them, or get the people they're protecting, runs the risk of losing their ability to see the big picture... but, on a big picture note, I'm glad you're back, and I'm especially glad that you and Thor can actually be on the planet and up at the same time.

That is true, Pepper. And I'm glad Thor is here too. We didn't get nearly enough time the last time he was on Earth.
