3 ۞ [Video/Text]

[As per usual, though you can't see Jack will be getting a video of nothing other than the scenery outside of Poseidon, those you can, will see him, of course! Text below follows soon after, even if he does want to say something but this wasn't really for the people who already knew him.]

Probably should have expected all the new faces but I really didn't. New timeline, new faces, gotta keep remembering that. In any case, I'm numero tres on the Spirit That Needs to be Believed In list. I'm Jack Frost.

[A pause in the typing...]

Yes, that Jack Frost. No, my parents weren't being weird or anything. The name I had before I became Jack Frost doesn't have much in common other than my first name. I know I'm not as popular as Tooth or North... er, Santa to you guys. But I really do exist and contrary to what some people say, no I'm not an invisible mutant kid with ice powers. I don't have the X-Gene, nor does it actually occur on my version of Earth. I'm just your common nature spirit that happens to be the one bringing Winter to you guys and working double time lately because of global warming.

But I doubt you want to hear me rant about that. If anything else, I would really appreciate it if you guys put aside your disbelief and actually believe in Tooth, Akito, and I. I know it seems simple, since I am here typing this all out but it's not as simple as you think. You really have to truly believe I'm Jack Frost, I'm the Spirit of Winter who nips at your nose. Tooth is the Tooth Fairy who leaves behind goodies after taking the tooth/teeth you left under your pillow, and Akito is a Wind Spirit, responsible for keeping the winds in check. It really shouldn't be that hard but some of you guys are surprisingly stubborn than most adults.

And adults are unknown territory. Especially for me. I usually deal with kids, after all. Guardian of Fun and responsible for all those awesome snow days that have been existing for a few hundred years now, thank you very much. But seriously, just bear with me. I'm not... used to trying to make adults believe in me. Since you got all that science and logic getting in the way of actually seeing what's, literally, right in front of you.

That's not how science works. Provide evidence, get results. What the hell is a spirit of winter?

Did I ask for science? No. Do you know what a spirit is in general?

[Really. He does. If you know anything about Jack Frost's story. It's finding out what your purpose was because for 300 years you didn't know what it was.]

Then don't complain about it. And no. No I do not. Clarify winter while you're at it, maybe? I mean, I've read about it, but it's not really a thing where I come from.

I'm not sure you're following what I'm "complaining" about. I was asking for belief, not science. Needing proof, evidence, all that stuff is what's getting in the way of believing in me. This is why Tooth and I generally rely on children.

Kids don't need much to believe in things like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. They just do.

You... don't know what winter is? Seriously? It's basically a three or four month period where things get cold, depending on where you are in the world, it'll also snow. Frozen rain, in case you're not familiar with that either. If you want science, it's when a certain part of the planet isn't facing the sun as much, so it's not as warm. I come in and generally help the cold come along, turning the leaves brown and leaving frost everywhere. Sometimes, I bring in blizzards, a snowstorm, if it's needed.

[Most of the old legends didn't make it through the war and she was raised by a scientist without much imagination. That Indrani had no reference point for childish belief wasn't unreasonable, weird as it was by most metrics. But at least she's heard of one of those.]

I think I read about Santa Claus once, but the book was half burned out, so I didn't really get very far. And I follow your astronomy. But I'm betting snow is one of those things that didn't make it through the war. I guess the river gets a little gross and cold for a few months, but that sludge couldn't freeze above absolute zero with all the sludge there is down there.

Um, I don't think winter just... stops. Although, I guess you could just be in that part of the world that doesn't really get snow. I don't dump snow everywhere, after all. It's also something that war doesn't stop either. I have to freeze water into ice. Snow itself is lots of little bits of ice.

A spirit is a magical being, I suppose you could say. There are spirits for all sorts of things, I'm simply a nature spirit in charge of one of the four seasons. Winter, obviously.

It does if you burn the sky. Everything I've heard from the ghouls and read in prewar books makes it sound like the weather used to be a lot different. It actually rained and there used to be plants outside Oasis, which is a mutation thing, and Lookout Point, which is an island. Well, I guess we have some plants. Poisonous succulents, mostly.

Anyway, the only ice I've seen in real life was inside a freezer I found once that still had undecayed coolant.

Y'know, being referred to by a centuries old name would have been cool if it didn't come with all that baggage. I'm Jack Frost, Jokul Frosti is an old name. [Yes. He's pouting.] Why would I look terrifying?

Oh, you know, bringing winter, freezing people to death, being destined to fight at Ragnarok, the usual. [and now Hiccup's babbling. To Jokul Frosti. He is so so dead]

And well, yeah, I bring winter. It's sort of my job. Every season has a spirit that brings them in. But I don't... freeze people to death. Not on purpose, anyway.

...although Ragnarok is a new one. Gotta tell North that one of these days.

For God's sake, if I could just will myself into seeing you I would! Do you think it was thrilling and fun trying to look after two intangible people four hundred years in the past when I couldn't tell whether you were alive or dead unelss you told me?
