What the hell happened back there?

[Even without any video feed to give an idea of her expression, Ashley's obviously agitated, and three days in what is apparently an entirely new timestream hasn't done anything to help things make sense.]

Not the basics - I get it. Most of you were off time traveling. But where? How scattered were we all? What started it? Did everyone make it back, or are we still missing people?

[She already knows "back in one piece" is too much to ask for.]

I don't know about anyone else, but I really don't want to be caught with my pants down next time.

Fifth Howl [Video | Wednesday morning]

Good morning, everyone. It's Lyall.

[See how far he's fallen: he's not even putting up both names anymore. It's been a while since he's come up on the network of his own accord, rather than replying to someone else.]

I have a few things here I need some help with, and I've come to the end of my direct contacts. First, I have a list of numbers that are apparently some kind of directional coordinates-- from space. Destination unknown, origination point unknown, though I have a few guesses I could make. Are there any pilots who might be able to assist in finding where they lead to?

Also, I've got a piece of glass here that I'm told is potentially full of data. If anyone would like a crack at translating it, do let me know? It could be fairly important.

Thank you.

[video] SNAKES ON A M_F_in' SHIP

[The camera pans wildly, showing the interior of the ship, and an open pod.  Snake's not used to video technology like this. Oh, Center had its call screen but nothing this small and compact.

[That she'd seen of course. But obviously she's in Center. Somehow.  Center, at last, when she least needed them.]

[But she wouldn't break her silence just for nothing.  She's awoken from her pod, crawled out and found what looks to be a battered leather case, with several large--empty--compartments, and another compartment crowded with boxes, pouches and vials.].

Where are my snakes?

[She sounds halfway between angry and frightened. ]

002 [video]

[Armand had taken it to heart not to use the network frivolously. Although he'd responded to others messages, this is only the second time he's originated a message. He's a little nervous about it. He wouldn't quite look directly at the device while he spoke.]

I, uh, didn't find an easy way to ask this of anyone I've seen this week, but it has been on my mind. Is there anyone who knows anything of building a wagon or carriage to be pulled by a team of horses. I have some recollection of how they work, but I would need something more to advise me. I'd think that perhaps there might be information in the Vault on the Ship, but I don't know my way around inside the ship.

So could someone volunteer to guide me or even just talk about carpentry?

001 | [voice]

[After finding her clothes and things, Christine is tiptoeing through the ship, expecting an enemy around every corner. But when she comes to the hatch that leads out, she feels a rush of relief. Slipping outside, she takes in her surroundings, and then tries the communicator in her hand -- one that looks so much like one from the Enterprise that she assumes she can reach her ship.]

Chapel to Enterprise. I'm at an unknown location. I was captured and placed in some sort of stasis pod. Requesting you beam me up immediately.

[She waits, and nothing happens. Nor is there any response from the transporter team. Uh oh.]

Enterprise, come in?

[More silence. Sighing, she begins to move away from the crashed ship, wondering if there's something about it that's blocking her signal. She looks curiously at the domed city in the distance, and the landscape surrounding her. Then she speaks to herself.]

Where am I?

[text] only slightly backdated to Friday of Week 24

[Locked to the Avengers, Pepper, Lyall, Bones, and Tosh]

I'm back. The trip was worthwhile, I think.

[Locked to Kaylee and Tosh]

Kaylee, Tosh, I have a project I could use your help with. The area where the ship's power core is located is going to need life support routed there as soon as possible. Between the three of us, we should be able to rig up a solution fairly quickly.

[OPEN]

For anyone who might venture out into the mountains, be careful. I encountered some saber-toothed cats and an Andrewsarchus there.

Video

[Before the image comes on, a few words can be heard]

Oh, the commlinks here have visual, that's a step up.

[And then the video kicks in showing a man wearing an extremely garish orange flightsuit, made even more offensive to the eye by the addition of an extremely colourful cloak over top. The colours seem to be shifting.]

Okay, so woke up here naked. That's a new one. I'm going to take a wild guess and say this is another case of interdimensional strangeness.

[Or downloading completely wrong?]

How am I doing so far? I could use a sitrep.

[It's a slightly harried looking Wing who appears on the communicator. He doesn't look injured, just...stressed out, his gold optics dim and tarnished-looking.]

H-has anyone else seen Dr. Liara T'Soni?  I mean recently?  I swore I saw her. But...[He looks around, almost on edge, and the camera moves to show that Wing's in a dead-end corridor. He's chased what he thought was her--and was definitely something--down here.] But, well, you can see.

If she's here, she

[....and then he goes blank for six or seven long seconds, almost like he's been shut off, but then he starts speaking, continuing the sentence as if nothing had happened.]

[Audio: Stop Plaguing Him, People] Monday, Week 22

This is Dr. McCoy.

No thanks to our charming neighbours behind the blue dome, we have both a treatment and a preventative vaccine for both stages of the plague, so put any plans to torch any more of the damned city on hold.

If you're new around these parts and/or you haven't been exposed or infected, come to the hospital and we'll vaccinate you.

If you or anyone you know is sick with the second stage, come to the hospital and we'll dispense the treatment for it. First stage too, but if you don't remember that we've been able to treat that one for some weeks now, you should arrange for a hearing and memory test while you're at it.

On the subject of tests, if you've been around enough that you reasonably should've gotten sick, come to the hospital. We'll vaccinate you, but we'll also want to screen your blood to make sure that you aren't an asymptomatic carrier -- we've found a few of them so far. If that's the case, then you're a walking, talking vector to reinfect people until we can give you a course of drugs to clear the bug from your system. This isn't something to be ashamed of, it's just something that you need to get sorted out. Don't be an idiot out of some sense of misbegotten pride or guilt or whatever screw's come loose.

McCoy out.

[The shot opens on a slightly harried-looking Todd, who is still grinning a little bit, despite looking harried.]

Hey, so. Anybody got any ideas on how best to feed something like, uh... these?

[And now the camera swings aside to show two roly-poly andrewsarchus cubs, each about the size of a sheepdog, one tawny with darker stripes and one dark with lighter brindling. They're within a circled fence made of broken tree branches and rocks, but it looks like they might climb out at any minute. It's not a very tall fence.]

I've been tryin' birds and frogs and fish. And bugs, too, since that's what I'm best at, yo. Even tried some rice, but they didn't like that so much. Anybody know somethin' that'll stuff their faces for more than a couple hours? And, uh, maybe some better way of holding 'em in....

Wanda is hardly happy to find herself naked in a pod. She’s even less happy that this is the second time in six weeks she’s found herself in an alien environment without prior warning.]

[She’s dressed now, though, and she’s got her communicator on. She’s not exactly smiling, but she looks much further from smashing everything in sight than she feels]

This is getting ridiculous. I’m the Scarlet Witch. Does that mean anything to anybody? [That echoes in her ears for a few seconds before she realizes how stuck up it sounds.] That’s not what I meant. [deep breath]

What I mean is: My name is Wanda Maximoff. I’m a mutant. From Genosha. [She takes another look around her surroundings.] Which is a country on Earth. I… [Wanda does not have much experience socializing outside an island nation ruled by her father, and her discomfort as she tries to figure out what a proper greeting sounds like is obvious.] Who else was abducted by aliens? [It’s a start]

Fettered worker [video] (week 20 - Sunday)

[ The video opens to a very bland view of the ceiling in one of the hospital's patient rooms. But despite the view, you can tell that there's definitely something going on. A female voice, young no doubt, is singing. It is nothing that anyone can translate (unless they are from the culture or have the gift of a talented tongue) but it is soothing, stark comparison of brightness to the gray, dulled atmosphere of the room. ]

[ The sound of fabric shifting and then a hand in the camera's view -- before the device is knocked off its flat surface. ]

-- Ohhh!!

[ But before the device can hit the tiled floor (and possibly break) it is caught, the face of a familiar young goddess now in the video's sight. ]

My apologies! [ She may be holding the device, but she's not looking into it. Rather, her eyes are upon something (someone) off to the side out of the video's camera range. ] I wanted to share something of my home with everyone. [ She sets the device back onto surface -- a brief glimpse in its turn before being set down shows a (sleeping?) woman in a hospital gown, and then Sigyn's hand in the woman's. ] There is no actual purpose behind this message besides my wanting to speak with someone who can take my mind far from these grim circumstances.

[The image that appears is of Briar, sitting on the grass just outside the ship and frowning at the device in front of him. Settled next to him is a potted miniature pine tree. But the most striking thing about him is the intricate leafy vine tattoos on his hands and forearms - which if you look closely at, you might be realise are actually moving.

When Briar starts talking, he seems to be addressing the mirror itself rather than anyone on the other end]

You can't be working, you know. I've never been able to scry - and besides, you don't even have any magic anyway, so I don't see how I'm supposed to talk to anyone with this.

[Not that Briar's all that sure he wants to talk who whoever brought him here. But magical objects without any magic is just plain bizarre, so his frown deepens]

[Video: Thursday morning, very very early]

[Somebody's alive again, and managed to trudge out of the ship just in time to catch that flash of light. She wasn't quick enough to catch that part on her phone, but she's catching this. She has the video feed pointed at the glow on the horizon, making sure to get the mountain and bit of the ship in the shot for directional reference.

Rather than actually making a big deal about coming back to life, she's focusing on that, thanks.]

Anybody know what's that way that might've exploded?

[She keeps the feed going for a few minutes, and then cuts it off, not really expecting a reply tonight, considering the hour. Though she'll certainly not be sleeping, if anyone else is awake....]

Fettered arrival [video] (week 19 - Friday)

[ Sigyn hadn't exactly been happy when she woke up on the ship. She was never gratious upon being forcefully waken from slumber. Neither had she been happy when she'd found that she was no longer in the Vanir Fortress, miles and miles of realm space from her mother and sisters. So when she gets her hands on the communication device, she promptly presses all the buttons, not meaning to fuzzy-up the video and turn the volume loud enough that anyone within a mile radius can hear her voice. ]

I do not appreciate being taken from my home! Why was I taken? Who are you who live upon this world? Where is transportation to return me to my realm? I must warn you, I come from the blood of warriors, and never have we taken capture of our own lightly.

[ Her eyes glow, fingertips twitching with blue light. ]

[Unfiltered Audio: A Recording of the Plague Year] Monday, Week 19

[There's no video for this, but the background noise is clearly a hospital, between the intercom pages and the general noise of too few healthy people trying to treat too many sick. Bones is back in his native element, it seems.]

This is Dr. McCoy. We've got some new directions on this disease outbreak, but they aren't all that pleasant. This is Yersinia pestis that we're dealing with -- the Black Plague, bring out your dead, all that medieval ghoulishness. Not being medieval, however, we have antibiotics and can treat the plague if you're not an idiot and don't try to tough this out. If you're running a fever, if you've got a wet cough, if you've got chest pain and can't breath and your muscles feel like fire, get to the hospital. We can't keep you unless you're on death's door, but we can give you drugs and send you home to recover. Take the full dose, even when you start feeling better, or I'll personally put a boot up your ass if you cause antibiotic resistant plague because you can't follow simple instructions.

Unfortunately, you won't likely be out of the woods yet. This isn't garden variety plague, some geniuses genetically modified it. I don't know which strain they're working with yet, but I do know that they engineered a second stage, likely viral, into the Yersinia bacterium. Taking the antibiotics to treat plague will likely let it into your system all the faster, and isn't that just a pretty little paradox?

Take the antibiotics anyway. Treating whatever this second stage is will be harder. We're going to do it, because no long-dead madmen are winning this one on my watch, but until we can tailor an antiviral, your best shot is to cure the plague as quickly as you can, and save your body's immune response and reserves for fighting off whatever this is the old fashioned way.

And that brings me to my final point...

[He pauses then, as if aware of just how potentially bad an idea this is, before shoving on ahead anyway.]

You paranoid bastards behind the dome. I know you've eavesdropped in the past, so listen to this now. I know that anybody keeping a force dome running with that much power has to have a higher level of technology than what we're suffering with out here. Give me access to a lab, and I can end this. We've got gear that can keep me isolated from you. If you really are superior to the rabble out here, then prove it. Find some common humanity and let me put an end to this plague.

[Monday morning: Audio, open]

[Someone's feeling a lot better. Stage one of the disease, gone! Poof! She's also a bit flustered. Checking everywhere she thought she might find her partner is turning up nothing... so, here's the next option.

In Japanese, everyone hears:]

Michiru? Michiru, do you have your phone with you, or your communicator? I'm out of the hospital, and dialing you directly has given me nothing. Pick up your phone, would you?

[About ten minutes later, there's a second broadcast, this one in English:]

Has anyone seen Kaiou Michiru? She is a tall woman, with long wavy hair, colored green-blue, generally seen with me.

[Audio: The Hot Zone] Monday evening, week 18

This is Pepper Potts.

I'm going to keep details thin in an open broadcast like this, but I've gotten information from a contact that suggests a potential location for the start of this current disease outbreak.

It will require travel over water, so air transport or the ability to transport yourself or others will be required to accomplish this in a timely fashion. There's also a risk of active disease agents still being present, so some sort of containment gear might be good.

My talents are very much not medical research ones, so don't ask me for details, but this might, I hope, help people who do have those talents figure out just what's going on here.
