[The ship corridor Rumple is transmitting from-- using Belle's communicator, for those who can tell such things-- is a little bit dimmer than it should be, and there's a few flashes off to one side. And a bit of a hissing, fizzing sort of sound... like ruined electronics might make.

Rumple ignores it all. He looks upset, angry, but not to the extent that he hasn't calmed down a little since his initial rage. The network has officially missed the worst of his temper tantrum.]

This ship is stealing people.

[All right, not quite all of the temper tantrum. He bashes at something off-screen with his cane.]

Belle is gone. She was here one minute, and gone the next. And it is this damn ship that took her!

[Good luck convincing him otherwise.]

[Kaylee doesn't like hearing people have gone missing. But she also doesn't like that crackling sound.]

I'm sorry. We're really trying to figure out what happens with people waking up and going back in. But let's not do anything rash.

Oh, it's a little late for that, dearie.

[He steps back and shows off the lovely forcefield he's stuck behind, by bouncing his cane off it. Viciously. He's still angry. It comes through in his voice, too: impatient and sarcastic.]

And she didn't just leave. She disappeared. So unless this repodding takes place in the blink of an eye when one's back is turned, then she is not in her pod.

[Oh she doesn't like that at all.

Also if the ship has decided he's dangerous, she's not overriding anything.]

And ya really thought smashin' was gonna fix anythin'?

It makes me feel better.

[Said very snidely. Especially because it doesn't look like he's feeling better, honestly.]

Wouldn't it be better to find somethin' ya can vent on that ain't gonna cause problems down the line?

[They've been working on those consoles, you know]

A pillow?

A pillow did not take Belle.

[It's as much punishment as venting, in this case, despite how little good it would do the ship overall.]

Pillow ain't our best chance of findin' out what happened neither.

[This is really counterproductive here.]

If this ship would actually offer me any help at all, perhaps I would agree with you. It is, however, being decidedly unhelpful.

[And that was even before he bashed her console in! Of course, he hadn't exactly been very polite about his questions beforehand, either.]

Ya tried askin' nicely? She's always right helpful with me.

Oh, I believe it's a bit late for that, dearie.

[Considering the locked in bit. And the fact that he's still angry. Rumplestiltskin and being polite don't generally belong in the same sentence together anyway, but especially not when he's still angry.]

[Rumple will see a young, concerned face gone pale with fear.]

St-stealing?

[She feels for him. She really does. She doesn't know what she'd do if Derek disappeared on her one day.]

I'm so sorry. I-is there any way we might be able to get her back?

She was here one instant, and then when I turned back, she was gone. So yes. Stealing is the most likely thing, here.

[Sorry, Chloe. He's an angry imp, and he's not going to be very nice. Have a face-full of sarcasm.]

Then we look for her.

[It makes complete sense to Chloe. And don't worry. She has thick skin.]

Does anyone here know exactly how the ship works?

[Have an unimpressed face, Chloe. Though at least he's not sniping at her quite so directly this time?]

It is alien technology made by people who can travel through time and dimensions. I'm sure no one knows exactly how it works.

[With a little shrug, Chloe offers her own smug grin in return.]

Exactly. And since no one knows how it works, you can't give up on trying to find her. N-no matter what it is you may find.

[There's a pause as he considers her, somewhere between annoyed and thoughtful. The annoyed doesn't go away, but he does say, just a bit of a bewildered note layered in with the anger,]

Well, of course, I have no intention of giving up. Though I do need to get out of here first.

[He raps on the forcefield holding him in with the handle of his cane. There's a staticky buzz in response.]

Wait. Where are you? Are--are you t-trapped somewhere?

[Chloe's video feed is suddenly jerky and Rumple may see a bit of the sky for a moment before Chloe's worried expression reappears.]

Do you need help?

Unless you can convince the ship to take down these invisible walls keeping me in... yes, I am trapped. I imagine it will let me out eventually.

[And that last word is drawn out and nearly growled.]

[It's always sad when people disappear, but this also sounds like an opportunity to learn something.]

I'm sorry. Were you with her? Did you see it happen?

I was standing right beside her. I turned away, and then there was a clatter, and I turned back, and she was gone. And this thieving ship claims she is not on board!

[The forcefield containing him gets another whap with the handle of his cane.]

The AI says she's gone? Something else may have taken her.

What else is there? There's no magic on this ship. And no one in the hallway. I did look.

[He actually looked a little before his panic turned into anger (like it usually does).]

[She doesn't trust the AI either, she's just pretty sure that it can't do that.]

That thing is programmed to protect us. I can see it justifying taking us back to the stasis chambers as part of its mandate, but sending us somewhere else?

Maybe someone got around the ship's wards, or activated part of the internal transport system -- I don't know what else there is.

[Maybe she'd somehow ended up in that place where Inara had gone when Elissa had poisoned her, but she knows better than to say that to someone who is already smashing things.]

[He growls at her this time, angry at her calm rationality when he knows it will do no good here.]

If it were the internal transport system, or someone who whisked her away into another corridor, she would still be on the ship!

We don't know that. So many systems on the ship are still broken. She could be in a location where the sensors are not functioning.

[There's a stricken sort of pause as Rumple digests that. They hadn't really gotten very far in their questioning of the vessel-- and honestly, he's not all that well-informed about the ship's problems, in general.

After that pause while he recalibrates his thinking a little, he demands, less angrily and more hoarsely with worry:]

Tell me what else is broken, here.

I know that both the AI and the transport system have only been brought online recently, and repair efforts are ongoing. Honestly, this ship crashed and has sat untouched for over a century, we're lucky that life support to the stasis chambers is still working properly. I'm sorry, I'm not a mechanic. If you want a full rundown, you'd be better off speaking to someone who's been working up there, like Kaylee or Kaidan Alenko.

"Life support"? You mean there are parts of this place where "life support" isn't working properly?

[Even more alarm, here. The thought of someone whisking Belle away through the transportation system to somewhere the ship is unaware of is bad enough-- to think of her being whisked off somewhere to where there is no "support" for "life" is even worse.]

I don't know if it's so important outside of stasis, considering we're in atmosphere right now. Obviously we can't know what's going on in sections of the ship that the AI can't access but it might be able to extrapolate if it has schematics in memory. Someone would have to ask it.

[He visibly throttles down the panic, though the wall does get another good thwack with his cane for good measure in the process, before answering with a taut:]

Well, I certainly can't go anywhere. This damn ship decided to fence me in. And it's not talking to me anymore.

[Maybe if you stopped hitting it, it would let you go.]

I know that the ship has thrown up that kind of security before. Our people working up there should be able to let you out.

I've already spoken with one of them. She declined to do anything about this.

[But hitting things is how he deals with everything, Inara! At least when he can't turn problems into rats, anyway.]

[If Kaylee wants you in there then Inara's not helping you, sorry]

I see.

Yes, I'm sure you do.

[And if she's not going to help him, he's done with her. Sorry, Inara. He severs the call.]

...Belle is gone?

How long? Is she back inside one of the pods?

[By now, some of Rumple's immediate tendencies towards violence has been worn out into a kind of simmering anger. But at least all Mulan gets is a snide reply rather than a snap. He isn't visible on the screen: he's set Belle's communicator down, so the view is of the ceiling of his new cell.]

The ship claims she is not on board. If she were in her pod, I imagine the ship would know it.

[He pauses, then answers her first question, with a little less hostility.]

And it's been nearly two hours, now, according to this device.

But if she's not on the ship then where did she go?

There must be some sign! We have to find her.

She was here one minute and gone the next. She dropped her communicator and all her notes. What other explanation is there?

[He resists the urge to hit the ship's wall again, though more because he's already left more dents than he supposes he needs to than because he's really restraining himself.]

If there were magic on this ship, then I would at least have something to start from. But there's not.

Maybe someone can track her using conventional methods then. Where did she disappear from?

From. Right. Here.

[Rumple finally picks up the communicator to show Mulan his face, as well as more of his forcefield cage. It's a section of hallway in the ship, containing Belle's notes (now neatly stacked), a slightly smoking ruin of a computer terminal, and a slightly rumpled-looking Dark One. In his guide of Mr. Gold, anyway.]

And if you would like to search for her, be my guest. I tried already, but didn't get far before the ship decided I needed a cage.

[Given that ruined console, Mulan might well agree with Salvation. Everyone else has.]

[Here's something Gold might not realize: when it comes to the people Mulan cares about, the greater good and other ideas of honor and nobility don't matter as much anymore.]

I don't know the ship itself very well, but I know how to get there. I'll be there as swift as I can.

[Hey, it's more than he's gotten out of anyone else. So, looking vaguely surprised, on top of the continued frustration, he says,]

Well, I certainly won't be going anywhere. I guess I'll see you soon.

[It takes her awhile to get to the ship, but she travels as fast as she can. Once she makes it aboard she starts systematically combing her way through corridors, sword drawn, looking for Gold...or any sign of Belle if she stumbles upon it.]

[He's not hard to find, since the terminal they choose isn't far from the nearest pod chamber to the entry-way. He's gotten to his feet by the time Mulan shows up, leaning with both hands on his cane, the smoking terminal and slightly dented wall behind him.]

I don't think your sword is going to do much good against my cage, dearie.

I'm not interested in freeing you.

[Her words are blunt, but she re-sheathes her sword. If he's contained there are probably no threats, and if the ship itself decides to attack her too she knows that a weapon will do very little good.]

I'm only interested in finding and helping Belle.

[The look he gives her is less than friendly, but since getting Belle back is more important than getting out of the cage he's in (and he'll admit that, as much as he hates cages), he doesn't growl at her. Much.]

You can check her pod, and the corridors around this area, but I already did that. Someone suggested she might have been transported, except the ship claims she is not on board anywhere.

I'll try to follow her path regardless. If she's not on the ship, she may have been taken elsewhere. I won't be satisfied until I see the signs, or lack of them, for myself.

Go look then. I certainly can't stop you.

[And since she's apparently more interested in that than helping him out, and since he can't exactly help her right now, he settles back against the wall again. His little venting session left his leg a bit sore, so taking weight off it is beneficial.]

[He points with the end of his cane back behind him-- on the other side of the bubble he's trapped in.]
