The Spring Equinox is coming up
And the city is getting ready for preparations


I am turning 100 years old this Equinox
Which is an important birthday
At least for spirits
I think

I don't know much about birthday celebrations
And the city looks like it will be having its own big party (???)
So I was wondering if anyone would like to
Hang out with me during the equinox?
For a little while maybe
If it is not too much trouble!!

And making preparations already.
But since it is 9 days away
I think it must be a large festival
If they are preparing so far in advance.

Now I am writing upon the mirror in my box with a golden stylus.

This is more familiar in a way.

There was no reason for a spirit like me until more recently. Climate change wasn't so bad until the most recent century, ne?

Ah, and it would be an honour to spend some time with Miss Tooth on the equinox!

The other Guardians had, of course, given her every ounce of respect she deserved when she first joined their ranks. I am all of those things, you're correct. And it makes me happy that you think so highly of me. But know that, like I said, you are important in your own way as a spirit. I don't think you are "lowly" in any sense of the word.

[ he comes up short at Jack's question, momentarily baffled. his confusion slowly leeches away to slight anxiety - what did he know about parties? certainly not enough to have one himself. ]

Ah, I just wanted some company! I didn't want to spend it alone... I wasn't thinking of a party. Should I have one?

Not sure why you would be considered a baby in the first place. Young, sure, but not really a baby considering what you can do.

[He chuckled lightly at Akito's expression.]

Having company over is a party. What you actually do in it is up to you. Have some music, play some games, eat cake, I dunno. Whatever you want to do. It really all depends on how many people you want over. If it's gonna be a lot, then a party is pretty much what it'll be. Anything less than five people is generally just a get together, but still a celebration anyway.

I think it's because I don't ever fight. So other spirits would sometimes beat me up and I wouldn't fight back, which I guess they thought was because I was too much of a baby to know how to fight...

[ he isn't exactly sure, but he supposes it's probably a mixture of that as well as his age. ]

Oh! Um... So I will be having a get-together. But I'll have to have it somewhere that isn't my home, since my home is too small for more than two people.

Maybe you should start fighting back then? Even if you lose, they at least you know how to put up a fight and may be a bit more wary on fighting you.

[It's what he had to do with Fall and Spring. Most of the time, anyway. They still managed to beat him pretty hard if they tried.]

I'm sure some of the Ship people would offer their homes. The houses here are a lot better and bigger.

That's quite the birthday you have, Akito. At least you're not likely to forget it in another few centuries?

[Atticus is actually a little worried about this upcoming festival. It would only be right to honor Brighid but... well... for one thing he's supposed to be dead as far as she's concerned. He's not entirely sure how that works when he's on another planet but he's not entirely sure he wants to find out.

For another thing the Equinox would be the perfect time for a magic boost that would let him connect to Tir Na nOg. After what happened last time he used a lot of his power, well, he's not so sure that's a good idea. Of course there's no time issues this time but still...]

I'm going to be uh... pretty busy for part of the day. But if you wanted a place in town to throw a little birthday bash you're welcome to use my place.

Are you going to be celebrating, um... Alban Eilir? [ and he totally messed up that pronunciation sorry atticus HE TRIED. ] And I don't know how to throw a party, but if people are going to keep me company on my birthday I should have one, ne?

[ sounds so unsure and awkward because he's never done this sort of thing before. sob. ]

Alban Eiler [Atticus corrects him because if the spirit has done his research accurately then he knows he'd want to say it accurately. Not trying to be rude, just helpful.]

If you want to have people over for your birthday then you should definitely have a party. What kind of party is the big question though. [Though somehow he thinks that Akito is the type to have a small private type gathering.] Maybe we can set up a picnic table somewhere and just...hang out and tell stories, eat good food. Story-telling is kind of a tradition for the spring equinox in a lot of cultures.

A picnic? That sounds good..! [ he's seen people have them many times, but hasn't had one himself before. unless having one on your own and playing pretend counts. ] What kind of food is good food? I've only ever eaten the stuff people throw out.
